tbh I'll only buy water proof phones because fuck that man
its illegal to market a thing as waterproof
its illegal to market a thing as waterproof
The correct term is "water resistant" and that's what the Active line is marketed as.
its illegal to market a thing as waterproof
fair enough yeah, seems like that is deffo true here, considering the asterisk they legally had to add [t]http://i.imgur.com/N8kIJWP.png[/t] https://www.kyoceramobile.com/brigadier/, which is what I have. I mean, it's not literally "waterproof" but close enough to it that I can manage to drop it in a pretty deep sink without issue water resistant enough that I can pretty much wash it with soap and water and not worry if I can't do that I just don't want it, I kind of need it.
water resistant ye, just nothing can actually be labeled as waterproof because, well, nothing can be waterproof.
At this rate we're going to see stunts like WATER RESISTANT* *Water resistant up to 0.3m up to 5 seconds. Dry immediately and do not turn phone back on whilst it's still wet. Dry phone substantially before trying to re-operate the device. Speaker and microphone operation might be affected by submersion into water. Do not submerge into water for longer than the specification. We take no responsibility for damage from water submersion for longer than the stated specification. Water can be harmful to your electronic device do not expose it to water.

No this is actually different. The S7 active claims IP68 certification yet it seems to be failing those tests. This is failure of a third party standard, not just claiming your phone is water resistant.
Linus from LinusTechTips took one to Mexico and it survived down to 30 feet in salt water, and was working under water, until it finally gave out at 30 ft a couple seconds after he turned it on again
