so i built up a gaming comp during summer...i have a 500gb hard drive and havent had a single problem with the system.....so a few weeks ago the hardrive suddleny thinks its full except for like 1gb...and its not at all..at the most i have 100gb on it....is there anything i can do to fix this besides reinstall windows??
Delete the files that are taking up the space. Ensure that the harddrive isn't failing (this can cause some problems, such as this)
i already deleted useless things, it freed up some space....but i want my 400gb back......theres only like 15-20 free now...how do i check if its failing?

Are you even sure it's not used up? Try running CCleaner to ensure that all temporary files and the likes have been removed.
already dont, barely removed anything. and im positive its not full...not even close.....could this be a defective hardrive?

okay so it turns out that FRAPs was recording every game that I was playing, and each video being 4gb it filled up fast, so i just deleted the videos. and will have to go into fraps and change the recording...thanks alot for helping out
Oh wow, haha. Thank God I don't have fraps, thanks for the warning

GOOD FUCKING GOD.
Thats a lot of .avi files.
yeah i have been so worried for the last week the hd was defective, so just disable F10 or F9 to record in FRAPs. Though it was kind of cool to look through and watch some of the videos, because you had no idea you were being recorded during play
