oh yes, he made it. he invented it. he better patent it.
fitting picture for this article
He better get 140 years for this.
And so the fake outrage begins.
Quite literately this title:
YouTube star PewDiePie says a naughty word
[editline]11th September 2017[/editline]
And so the fake outrage begins.
Of course, most news sites survive on click revenue so no doubt most outlets will start writing a 3 page essay about this along with a few "YOU WILL NEVER GUESS WHAT THIS YOUTUBE STAR SAID LIVE ON YOUTUBE!"
I take it they ran outta shit to write about?
News at 10: Person on the internet says a bad word
More on this developing situation as it happens
Brand new racial slur? How fuckin' long have they been sitting under a rock?
Anyone have a video of him saying this brand new word?
Anyone have a video of him saying this brand new word?
Here's the Videos thread about it.
Are you fucking kidding me? We actually jumped straight from outrage over alleged antisemitism, to outrage over simply using a bad word. Talk about a slippery slope.
A lot of pewdiepies audience are children though which is part of what makes this particularly bad
It worked last time to get clicks, it'll probably work again in their mind.

It's a different kind of issue. Personally I think the nazi allegations are ridiculous but that the complaints in this case have some merit to them.
Again, it's about intent. The way he said it is no different than calling someone a cunt or a dick
As shit as Kotaku is, this article makes a good point as to why this is technically newsworthy. Last time this type of controversy happened, a number of advertisers backed out of YouTube and negatively affected ad revenue for everyone, and it only recently started recovering.
As much as this entire thing reeks of bullshit clickbait at first, this has real life consequences for everyone who makes a living off of making gaming content on YouTube, all because a single person is a racist fuck.
He did say it with a bad intent, however he was in a frustrating situation and it looks more like an accident. I do believe he even said sorry on the stream.
This is just boring people with boring lives that try to cause drama, to have something to talk about.
[Edit]
.. all because a single person is a racist fuck.
I think the youtube adpocolips had more to do with ads being played while people get executed the background. He might have contributed .. but not the only reason.
Again, it's about intent. The way he said it is no different than calling someone a cunt or a dick
Then he can call them those. The difference here is that the term has a loaded history.
This got on BBC, really now?
X says it a ton and no one at all bats and eye because its normal and they're a part of the counter-culture today. Because its expected literally 0 people that matter care.
Y, who is a "safe", and "clean" individual says it and hell is to be paid. Y instantly gets a far bigger reaction than anyone else because they have an otherwise sterile reputation. (Lets be real though, that's a laugh)
People are really defending this? Jesus, what the hell has happened to people, are we going backwards? Who is Felix to say this, especially on a stream that impressionable children watch, it's irresponsible and people should be outraged. Let's not pretend he's just "some guy" he's the most popular YouTuber and can influence an entire generation with his words and actions, so he should act more responsibly. Common sense.

youre a policeman, shouldn't you be out arresting vicious criminals like this rather than reporting on it online?
Gotta love how much butthurt PewDiePie these days generates :v:

Not saying he should have said it, but the overreaction by everyone is astonishing. My feed is filled with people straight out calling him a "Racist" and saying that he should "Lose everything" because he said a bad word during a stream.
Some people that even know him are saying that they "Lost confidence in their judge of character" over this. It's ridiculous.
Who is Felix to say this, especially on a stream that impressionable children watch, it's irresponsible and people should be outraged.
Outraged? Impressionable children?
There's no ESBR in the internet - Everyone should walk in knowing there's something or someone that might upset them.
But it's Pewdiepie who said it, so lets all be mad because he's a closeted Nazi so he must mean it in a bad way right?
He's just a dumb proto-millenial absorbed by the internet culture, it's not his fault.
You can't have a word that is OK in some cases, but awful in others - It's unreasonable and illogical, and on the best case nothing happens but on the worst case it spawns violence, there is nothing to gain but much to lose.
But quite honestly it's 2017, Nigga, Nigger, Nuggaah or whatever variation is on TV, movies and all over mainstream culture, it has lost much of it's perverse significance and became part of the lingo, you couldn't get rid of it even if you wanted.
This witch hunt was blown out of proportion.
If you don't like him troll his streams, complain or don't watch him even, but put down your pitchforks.
This got on BBC, really now?
He has the most-subscribed channel on YouTube and most likely more reach than a good amount of other celebrities. I'd be more surprised if they didn't report on it.
