Did this have a Kickstarter or am I thinking of something else?

Something else. This is a straight up publisher-funded release.
There was a game called Republique that had a similar aesthetic.

That's exactly what I was thinking of. If this was the same thing I was going to be disappointed because Capcom is becoming known for pumping out a lot of bullshit now.
This looked much better than the older video. The memory changing and combat look like fun but I remember the tone and action being a bit dull.
This reminds me an awful lot of Oni so far. Good, good.
And I just noticed the article mentioned it.

Nearly everything has a Kickstarter these days, my balls could do with a good Kickstarter.

Yes oh my god yes.
The memory remixing thing reminds me of Ghost Trick, like intensely, so it could work a lot better than whoever wrote that article thinks it would. Though Ghost Trick wasn't really good because of its gameplay so much as its charm which made the repetitiveness a little bearable but we'll see how this goes.

Hadn't heard of Ghost Trick before. I'll see if I can get my hands on a copy. Thanks for the heads up!
