• Optical Drive reading CD's but not DVD's

So I build a computer today and I was curious to see how crysis runs. Epicly passing the System Requirements Lab shit, i proceeded to installing it. I insert my dual-layer DVD and to my surprise my LG GH22 found that it was blank. So I tried on 3 different computers, all of which ran the DL DVD just fine. Even my shit computer from 2003 read it and it's not even DL. It just installed half of the game. So... wtf. Device manager finds my CD/DVD drive and it appears to be "installed" just fine. So, help?
Did you try any other DvDs?
Did you try any other DvDs?
Gimme a sec... Normal DVD's work. I don't have any other DL DVD's lying around though.
So, you have two DL DvDs, one worked, and the other didn't? If that's the case, I'm afraid I'm not sure what to do next. Maybe finding and installing drivers for the DvD drive could help.

So the only thing not working from my understanding is DLDVD's. I'm sure it's not the DLDVD seeing as to how it's worked on 3 computers, and I'm sure it's not the Rom because it's supposed to support DLDVD's.
So, you're quite sure that this DvD drive can read dual-layer discs? I'd look through the specs to be absolutely sure. You said you'd installed half the game - does that mean it read one layer, or something? I didn't quite understand.

It didn't support dual layer but it STILL read it and STILL installed half the game. This is very aggrivating. Edit: http://reviews.cnet.com/dvd-drives/lg-gh22ns30-super-multi/4505-3212_7-33303985.html Read them with me just so I can see if I'm retarded or not.
So, you said you had the LG GH22. There seem to be several versions of this, from what I saw, and it is possible that not all of them support DL. Try to find out the exact specific model you have, unless that link was the exact one. Then we can see if your specific drive can support DL at all. And it appears that I have a very similar drive, although I've never tried DL discs with it.

Strange though that it doesn't Read/Install like my other drive from 2003...
