Hi, I don't really post nor view this forum alot but I think I could need some help on this one.
I put together a list INCLUDING the cheapest prices I could find (just to put less strain on the economy part) and I could need suggestions and help on what to MAYBE add, remove or replace.
Here is the list itself, pretty self-explanatory:

This is to be a actual gaming computer, but our (my families) budget isen't too high, but I think most of that should suffice quite well.
-snap-
that is exceptionally confusing and i'm not sure if i'm reading it correctly. but if you're going for budget, don't go intel. and for the love of god don't get a 9800, it's like four years old at this point. and a 2tb drive when going for budget? naww. and caviar green is trash, energy efficient hard drives blow.
just... what's your budget? give us a number. you did pretty good but there's just a lot of mistakes for a low budget build.
I'd say 1000-1500 Euros.
It really depends, I can't get a hold of my dad right now so I really can't tell but that should be around what we can afford.

If you have any suggestions for a processor, pref. Quad and 3-up ghz.
i would make you a build but since you're in europe I don't know what retailers are decent over there. but with a budget that huge you might be able to get like two graphics cards and an i7. read: a fucking beast computer.
and i don't even think intel has processors that fast, i7's are the best processors out right now but they run at low clock speeds. phenoms are inferior but much cheaper but they run at like ~4 ghz
I'll have to look in to it.
I already have a useable graphics card (9800GTX+, my dad bought it last winter for me, he has the same model in his computer) but I think two 560Ti's would be great to have (Why I chose a SLI motherboard).
The i7 is doubtful, I've heard it's just a easier overclocked i5, but I'll have to look it up.
The i5 2500K is a beast for overclocking.
It goes up to 5ghz with good cooling, on air.
Is it possible for you to wait? Bulldozer's will be here soon (19th September is it?).
Bulldozer's?
And no, I've been waiting for almost a year now, it's been long enough.

Get out of the tech section if you don't know what you're talking about.
Phenom clock's depend on the edition (3.2-3.7), but they are in no way as overclockable as the i5/i7.

Never get a green drive as your primary. They're slow, ureliable and their warranties are shit.

OR
Asus GeForce EN9800GTX/HTDP 512MB = 2320:-/262€
9800GTX is way too old to consider. Especially at that price. Look at some of the cheaper AMD 6000 series cards or go with the GTX 560.

Full tower cases are expensive. I wouldn't recommend one unless you really need the extra space.

4605:-/521€ without any graphics card
6213:-/703€ without any graphics card, with case
6925:-/783€ with EN9800GTX
6662:-/754€ with GTX560 Ti
8270:-/936€ with GTX560 Ti and case
By the way, you need a power supply. And if you have enough left over for a 30GB SSD, I would recommend it.
The GTX was POSSIBLE, never said I would really go for it.
And I talked alittle with my dad and he told me that a Raptor HDD would be great as a primary and a Western Digital Caviar Green would be good for storage.
And we looked up cases, and we are gonna go for something smaller.
Power supply, we already have a pretty powerful working one in my old computer.

are you guys stupid
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
i think you guys are stupid
That's not even a reasonable comparison. Putting the fastest AMD quad-core against a high midrange, previous gen Intel CPU.
i picked the first ones i found because i didn't think you would be so adamant about it jesus christ
i picked the first ones i found because i didn't think you would be so adamant about it jesus christ
You mean, instead of picking the ones we're discussing you picked the ones that would make you look right.
Why are you guys bickering?
Can't you keep that in PMs when I actually could need some actual HELP not bickering in my own thread.
A raptor drive is unneeded. SSDs have taken their place at this point. Get a Spinpoint F3 1TB drive or a 60GB SSD and a 2TB drive (not a green drive, try blue, or another brand). You don't need a full tower case, a mid size case like the HAF 912 would work fine. The 560 ti would be a good graphics card. 2500k is a great CPU. As for Power supply, I'd recommend Corsair, Seasonic, PC Power and Cooling, OCZ, or coolermaster. I'd say you would want a 650 watt power supply.
Thanks alot, Manning, I'll look in to some SSD's and report back here to see what you guys think.
And the case, yeah, I posted about that some posts up.
did you miss the "inferior" bit because i think you missed the inferior bit
rofl you say they are inferior but you try to justify that with "they are about 4ghz" immediately afterward, as if that redeems the processor
its called bein floppy-floppy
i picked the first ones i found because i didn't think you would be so adamant about it jesus christ
You have absolutely no fucking clue what you are saying at all. You are like all those illiterate retards that just look for whichever number is higher and assumes that is the better part.
I wouldn't be surprised if you thought a 9800GT was significantly better then a 6970.
Processors are not all about clockspeed. Hell, they are BARELY about clockspeed. Newer Intel processors get an amazing amount of more work done per core and per cycle then comparable AMD processors. A 955 BE running at 5 GHz will still get smashed by an i5-2500k running at 4GHz.
Stop advising people on what they should do, because you are completely clueless.

It appears your 'inferior' CPU gets assraped by an i5. Keep in mind that the i7 version of this chip would score even higher.
I believe a 2500k is in order.
Even the lower end i7 is still better then the 980 BE.

Okay, very sorry about how we derailed your thread Fussy. What site are you planning on ordering from?
Well, it really depends. I can get all the parts cheap, but from different sites (most likely).
Gonna have to look around, gonna make sure the shipping is not too much and the store isen't in America. :v:
just get an i5 2500k or an i7 2600k if you render videos alot and use heavy multithread programs (which I assume you dont)
a z68 motherboard with SLI support
f3 1tb + 60gb ssd
4 or 8 gigs of DDR3 ram
GTX 570 and another in the future to make SLI
a decent non-overpriced case like haf 932
and a decent 700W or more powersupply, something like corsair or seasonic
