• [Is it possible?] Iphone 4S IOS 1.0.6 jailbreak
    18 replies, posted
I want to jailbreak my Iphone, which I have never done before. I know what a tethered/non tethered version is and I know how it is normally done. However I have an Iphone 4S with the 6.0.1 ios and I can not seem to find any working guides to jailbreak it. Does anyone happen to know of any, or if it is even possible to jailbreak my type of phone at the time? I would prefer help from people who have actually done it, or know what they are really talking about. I have sifted through a hundred "jailbreak guides" that don't directly say they work for iphone 4s 6.0.1 but try to make it look like they do. (I assume they do this for all the blog views, traffic, ect)
I think you're not finding anything because the 4S can't run an iOS that low
I think you mean 6.0.1, and no you can't jailbreak it yet.

Is it possible to downgrade to a lower ios and then jailbreak it like that? I assume the only difference would be going without the bug fixes/updates the new ios 6.0.1 has? -snip thought it would merge-
I did manage to jailbreak my iTouch 4 (iOS 6.0.1) tethered with sn0wbreeze, but it's useless, Cydia almost immediately crashes.
Are you tethered booting?
It says in his post that it's tethered.
Yes but that doesn't mean he's tethered booting. You can boot on the 6.0.1 to regular iOS with the Cydia app showing, but it will crash immediately because you're not actually in the jail break. You need to make 100% sure that you are actually in the jail break.

I can launch my iPhone 4 6.0.1 Jail broken completely fine without being tethered booted, it just does exactly what I stated before if it's not explicitly booted from redsn0w.

My 4th gen here won't boot at all unless it's tethered. Apple logo just comes and goes forever.
Fortunately, I've heard the untethered is supposed to be out soon, so just give it a shot then OP if you'd like.
