I have Vista Home premium on a HP Pavilion a6700y, with the montior & graphics card Acer X203H on NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS. The resolution is should be and what I have to set it back to on start up is 1600 by 900. After restarting it goes down to 1360 by 768. Any help? All I can think of is to make sure your monitor is on while booting, because the video card needs to detect a monitor to set its resolution. Otherwise, it sets to a default resolution. This may not be your problem, but it's all I can think of suggesting.
Run msconfig (windows key+R msconfig) switch to boot tab and see if base video is checked.
