I genuinely feel bad for people who got fucked by the PC edition. I got it back when it came out and haven't had any problems with it aside from a weird cutscene stuttering (that was fixed by a mod early on iirc).
Had to play through the same shoot-em-up section like 5 times because it would always softlock at the end. Unlocking the framerate is a mistake, don't do it.
It's weird because while "action game" certainly is the category that I'd toss nier into, it's not really the action that makes the game shine. There are massive problems there, mostly related to the game's handling of hp and recovery items, but I'd be lying I'd i said the plot didn't carry it hard, and in a good way. I always wondered if yoko taro is at least familiar in passing with the works of Sci fi author John Varley, as there are several key resemblances I've spotted, but perhaps it's just pure serendipity.
