Really as a Halo fan I want to say "good" here.
I didn't like Halo Wars and I didn't want Microsoft to abuse their licence and milk the series. I'm okay with 343i now, but a Halo MMO would've just helped dissolve my interest in the series like Halo Wars and Halo Legends and all that other stuff did.
yeah a halo mmo would have defninitely been wack as fuck
I feel like their wouldn't be anything to do in a Halo MMO. I love the Halo universe, but unless it was a MMOFPS, it just probably wouldn't have worked anyways.
I just want to play a Halo game where I get to fly a pelican.

There's an easter egg in reach where you can.

Yeah but the phantom is much funner to fly.

Get Halo: Combat Evolved for PC and download HMT, and then you can fly them.
Also you can "fly them" in Halo 3 with a hilarious glitch, thought you don't exactly have control over them.

Do the halo CE servers have people?
If so, I might get it...

For PC I mean.
If they are even up still.
Haven't played in a couple of years but there were quite a few last time I played, some time in 2010.
I remember seeing concept art and stuff for a potential Halo MMO.
It looked absolutely awful.

yeah but 50% of servers seem to be ~LEET GRAVITY MODZZZ ROCKETS ONLY~ so don't be discouraged if you accidentally connect to one of those
So where would one buy a copy of halo CE?
Without waiting for a physical copy anyway...
The game was never launched through digital distribution, as far as I know.
But don't worry, you'll find it in the bargain bin of your local store for $5
Good, they would have needed to add so much extra shit to the lore in order to make it work. I could have sworn there was some concept art with some horrible biotic knockoffs.
Psychic powers in my Halo universe? Nope.
Good, the image they put out as a concept looked god awful on so many levels not just graphically.

Nanotech.
Considering the fact that 343I is retconning nanotech into Halo on par with MGS4. But considering a good amount of the dev team used to be at Kojima Studios that's not unexpected.
A halo mmo would be amusing. Considering that the humans in the halo universe aren't really smart at all and just have the dumbest logic. Like their doctrine that requires them to erase fucking everything.
I dunno, I reckon a Halo MMO might be nice if say it was something like a BF3-esque conquest mode played on really large open maps with 128 players or something. Although it would be spammy I reckon it'd be cool to have such battles with things such as Elephants acting as mobile bases and spawn points, Scorpion charges and Wraiths blowing the shit out of everything.

Well isn't that doctrine in place to make sure the covenant would never find out about Earth in any way? It obviously fell apart in Halo 2 but whatever.

Custom Edition is the one you'll be looking for, not Combat Evolved (They're both 'CE') Custom Edition is also free, you can find a download somewhere on the net, http://www.halomaps.org/ is the modding community for it. I may go and setup a 24/7 server if I can get a bunch of facepunchers interested. All you need is a CD key for the game, no disks are required.
This reminds me of the ancient Halo DS, I always wondered how that would play out and it looked good enough to be played. Anyone else remember that?
And I might play halo ce with you guys, if I can find my disk.
i've still got my game disk, if enough facepunchers start playing i'll be down for sure

I second this.
Halo CE was so fun. I remember the custom maps like Hugeass and how it had a nuke launching Longsword.
I always played maps that had custom vehicles in them. The best of times.
I remember modding Halo CE before they released the official tools, compiling and recompiling files to add NPCs to blood gulch (Spawn them in the ghost, and make the ghost spawn upside down to it kicked them out), it was fun.

Even Halo 2 vista is alive still, Custom edition is pretty dead though according to the last time I tried to play it. And tbh I would have loved a Halo mmo if it was pulled off right. Of course that being an mmofps that revolves around pvp, being able to join either the covenant or humans.
I got on last night and every single server was rockets or snipers.
