• Fraps files not reading or writing

For some odd reason, all my fraps files (the raw .avi files) decided not to work anymore. Furthermore, these files won't write anymore, meaning I can't record anything. According to fraps' website, you must have fraps installed to view the files, which I do. So I figured a reinstall would fix it, but didn't. If anyone knows what to do about this please tell me. Also, I do have the most current of fraps, yes the paid one, not torrented.
bump need this fixed
Run FRAPS as administrator if it's not recording? Try changing the folder? Do you have enough disk space. As for viewing the files back, what media player do you use - try VLC or Media Player Classic. If not, try and open it in VirtualDub. If that says its corrupted, then it's something wrong with either FRAPS, your hard drive or Windows.
Tried running it as admin, didn't work. Tried changing folder, didn't work. Yes I have enough hard drive space, I store them on a separate internal hard drive than my os. Someone told me that there is something wrong with the codec that fraps is supposed to install when it installs. I'll try vlc next. But my main concern is that after recording a file, it just leaves it as the standard .avi thumbnail, where the rest of the files (which still won't play) have a still from the video file as their thumbnail. It's like fraps never tells the file to save after recording and leaves it corrupt. [editline]31st January 2012[/editline] Well VLC can play the files with now problem. Is there a way I can set my system's default media player to Vlc so I don't have to manually select open with vlc every time?
If you right click a file and click "open with", it gives you the option to choose a program, along with a tickbox saying "always open with this program"
alright! back in recording and playback business. Installing VLC must have fixed the codec for fraps, which I guess WMP decided to kill. Thanks for the help all!
