They are, Steam refunds take me back to the good old days where I had to spend $60 and only had 2 hours to play the demo! :downs:
I mean, he's not wrong, but not right either. It could technically be a demo, but also spending 60$, using up 40+ gbs of hard drive space, and making sure to leave it under the 2 hour mark so you can get a refund, isn't really demo-like at all.
It also usually takes up to 2 weeks for Steam to return my money to me, which means if I decide to "demo" a game then I can't use that money to buy another game (or anything else) in the meantime. Maybe if you refund to the steam wallet it's faster, but then you can't use the money on anything else.
Don't steam refuse refunds if you keep doing it? I wouldn't have bought Dishonored 2 had I not played the demo, even with the possibility of a refund if i had performance issues.
This guy is likely gonna get shouted at by Valve because its considered abuse of the refund policy.
Valve's already said they do not allow people to do this, there has to be a genuine reason for you to want a refund, not because its a "demo".

The steam refunds page does say that playing a game for an hour and deciding you don't like it is a valid refund reason ("maybe you played the title for an hour and just didn't like it") which fits with this idea (buying the game, trying it to see if you like it, refunding it if you don't)
Hopefully other companies won't follow this logic. If they do, I imagine we would see an increase in overly long introductions purposely designed to keep you from the game proper until you have little or no time to request a refund if it is bad.

"It's just a resource assignment thing. We couldn't do a demo on both the console and on the PC, we had to choose. And besides, PC has Steam. Steam players can just return the game [prior to playing] 2 hours so it's like a demo already. I also want to clarify that there's no PC port. I keep on hearing 'oh they're going to screw up the PC port' there is no PC port. We do the game on PC. It's a PC game. It's a different engine to Dishonored as well. So we might have our own sets of problems, but we are of course very careful because of what happened with Dishonored 2. So we wanted to make sure the PC version of Prey is good."
it's a good idea to not go off just this title

I've refunded a lot of shit so far, it's really not a big deal.

They only refuse it if you refund a ton of games in quick succession, and then ignore their warnings to 'cool down for a bit' and continue doing it
