I'm looking to upgrade my current speakers (god knows what model they are but the are old hand-me-downs), mainly because the left side doesn't work at all and the right side fizzes out often. I'm mainly wanting a 2.0 system with enough kick for my games, but I could possibly go with a 2.1. If it's needed, i'm trying to stay under $50, but I can go a little higher.
Any help would be appreciated greatly.
I very much doubt you can get a set of 2.0 speakers that have any form of decent lows whatsoever for $50 or under, I'd stick with 2.1.
Do you have any suggestions for a 2.1?

There's so many.
If I'm going to end up getting a sub (which I was trying to avoid), do you know of any good 4.1 or 5.1's while you're at it?
For $50 I wouldn't bother for 4.1/5.1, go 2.1.
why wouldn't you want a sub? subs own.
they're crap when you slap overpowering aftermarket subs on regular 2.0 speakers. but speakers designed to have a subwoofer sound great

I have the Creative 2.1 linked and it sounds great, even after 2 years. I occasionally switch to it during the day for gaming/music. Sounds crisp, clear, and the sub is very powerful.
I'm thinking either the Creative or this.

Bought it 2 weeks ago, best price/performance ratio I have ever seen in pc audio. Works well for music, games, and movies. Very loud and crystal clear up to about 90% volume, which is ridiculously loud. Past that a bit of distortion becomes apparent, but it passing 90% volume is just way too loud. Sub sounds decent for a 25 dollar set, and gives just the right amount of bass without overpowering the main speakers. The "satellite" speakers, which are the main ones sound really good as well. If you're looking to save money and still afford great sound, get this.
Plus they can be picked up at Wally World for $25.

Agreed, the sound of the Creative T3130 is really really good for the price.
