There has to be one. Why not ESO?
Did anyone not expect this to be a flop.
At least TOR had some genuine redeeming factors at launch

Part of me had hope, I didn't expect it to be quite so awful.

No, it didn't.

What are these "redeeming factors" you're referring to?
The best method of storytelling in an MMO bar fucking none. Sure they botched Revan something bad, but the class stories were all solid for the most part (sans the shitty Consular story). And their method of phasing content effectively made you feel like you weren't the thousandth chosen one in the galaxy. It very effectively centered the story on you. And having the quests be fully voiced with dialogue trees and cutscenes? I shouldn't need to explain why that's amazing for an MMO. Then give all classes their own Normandy-style ship and crew/ that was fantastic!
and the game had basic MMO gameplay, I'll admit it, but they did I well and improved it many ways. You could send your crew to do thing like gathering materials and crafting so you can focus on things like questing. It also had easily the best quest tracker and map I've seen in an MMO so knowing where to go wasn't a problem and made questing less frustrating
And thats just a few. I could go into the space missions. But I'll just keep it short ad say they were kinda crap, but it was nice to see a new style of gameplay, and the new free expansion really made space combat into what it should have been.
And I could come out with A LOT of praise for where the game's at NOW looking past the less than great F2P system.
Probably a lot of typos, but I'm using a phone, so my bad.

He has a point, TOR didn't make a great MMO, but it's what were basically single player missions were well written and entertaining.
Still would have preferred a SWTOR 3 however.
