I really hope they've learnt from all their mistakes and have set out to make this campaign great, the politics system really needs something to make it good.
If it is good I'll probably never play the original campaign again.

Didn't that war take place over a huge amount of territory, like from Gaul all the way to Egypt and into Anatolia? If that's the case it's basically going to be half of the campaign map, sounds pretty great I think.

You won't have to. The changes to politics and civil war are also going to be applied to the Grand Campaign and Hannibal at the Gates.
