I currently been playing Garry's Mod since 2011 and have about 20,000 hours I want to become a developer and I wonder what age I have to be I also have experience in lua before.
You're hired
You're hired
This feburary 24 I am becoming 14 is that a optimal age?
Anyone can be a developer if they actually develop things. Anyone can develop a Gmod addon at any age if they put in the effort to do a good job. Putting in the effort to punctuate your sentences instead of everything coming out in one long breath will help begin establishing your developer career.
Should I do Email or PM?
PM. I'm on the line with Garry right now, you should hurry up.
PM. I'm on the line with Garry right now, you should hurry up.
To who?
To who?
To me, but also send Garry a copy.
Limed00d is trolling. You can be a dev at any age you want; I started at 12-13 and am still learning to this day -- the earlier, the better.
Best post it on here so Craptastic doesn't feel excluded in the decision making process.
To me, but also send Garry a copy.
Done
Done
Garry is pronounced with a "J" sound, so don't fuck up the interview.
Done
We'll get back to you as soon as the paperwork is in order. Thank you for applying!
If you're asking to be a developer at Facepunch Studios I'm pretty sure age 13 is legally too young to work there. Also, having 20,000 hours of Gmod is not going to help you develop a game like Gmod. In the same way that watching 20,000 hours of basketball on TV does not make you the next Michael Jordan.

13 is a good age to start getting into things in terms of development. You're not going to get hired by anyone in the first place, legally you're too young to work unless you live on a farm. Then you get to be a farmer and drive a tractor legally. Depending on where you're going to pick up in development, lua is a good high level script for you to start learning. There is a forum and a community for that. If you wish to get on the artsy side of things, you can go the mapping/modelling sections as well.
In the same way that watching 20,000 hours of basketball on TV does not make you the next Michael Jordan.
So I've been lied to my entire life? All those hours, for nothing??? [editline]zxcv[/editline] i dont even like basketball.
I put some stuff that I haven't put on the thread in the PM.
Have you created anything? Do you have a project you can show? You become a developer by creating things, not by getting a business card with your name and "Developer" on it. Im doing "stuff" for a Garry's Mod server and I have read the Official Wiki on how to code. Ive also been practicing with DarkRP job files and coded some Nutscript also.
Age ain't nothing but a number. [editline]21st January 2017[/editline] But this isn't the place to ask for employment.
