Like the one use I see this being is in like a conference/meeting environment where you want to get a file to everyone in the room fast.
But other than that I see no uses at all.

this sounds really variable depending on audio interference and different speakers, etc.
at least QR codes were just one dark color on another making it easy to distinguish
