Save some more and get a better computer.
Get a new hard drive?
Save for a new computer. Hard.
Save some more and get a better computer.
Yeah, it's hard to say what hardware you should replace first..
Get a new hard drive?
The 300GB one suits me well. Most modern games take up a lot of space, but I'm not running any of THOSE any time soon.
Investing in that system is a waste of money. Except you spend about 10 times what you want to spend and replace every single piece in it.
I guess a 400 dollar computer would [del]suck my dick[/del] work well.
You sure about that? 400 bucks won't get you far...
Anybody have that image that shows like, 40 options of a PC (Entry level, modest, etc...)? I remember it being moderately useful but I never saved it.

400-500
[editline]27th December 2010[/editline]
My birthday is in May, maybe I can ask my dad to give me more money.
500 dollar? mehh... You won't go far...
You'll need about 650$ to make a good one, if you build it yourself, ofc.
Buy a new GPU and PSU if you can afford it.

You could put together a quite decent machine for 500 if you don't need to buy an OS.
Edit: ^That's me writing a post than pressing post half an hour later
[img_thumb]http://imgur.com/egrJW.png[/img_thumb]
But yeah, that's a pretty good build, pretty much spot-on for your pricerange:
- gts450
- Athlon II x4, could use x3 if you want to save about 20$
- 2x2GB 1333MHz DDR3 in dual channel will will be plenty fast for this build, and it's pretty cheap right now.
- like someone already said, the Spinpoint F3 is pretty much the king of HDDs, there's also a 500GB version if you want to save some $
- for mobo, just choose one that fits your needs, maybe look at some reviews before you choose.
- I'm not an expert on PSUs, but that one should do, I'm unsure of its quality though. No need for a powerful and expensive one for this kind of build.
I can use XP on my current, then 7 on the new one.
[editline]27th December 2010[/editline]
Or I can throw my current one off a cliff.

There's a reason the DeskStar is commonly referred to as the DeathStar. Change it out for the slightly-more-expensive-but-totally-worth-it Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB - it's the fastest consumer rotating drive you can buy.
Uhh... that's in pounds. They're discussing american dollars here.
EDIT: Plus that system is rather poor anyway, and may not even work together (DDR3 RAM)

For 500 quid you could easily get a phenom II X4 or maybe even an i5 and a graphics card which is a lot better

Fucking yes i love my F3
Also what games do you play OP?
[img_thumb]http://imgur.com/egrJW.png[/img_thumb]
You might be able to squeeze in a GTX 460 if there's a good rebate going on. Not sure about the PSU requirements for that are.
If you want it to even be more cheaper, get a 8800GT. It'll run everything on max except Crysis, Metro 2033, and STALKER COP.

You're 12. You should be outside climbing trees and riding bikes and shit. Why do you need to "communicate" with other 12 year olds? Isn't that what school is for? Or God-forbid a cell phone.
