Hello Facepunch, I've noticed firefox has been a memory hog recently (using about 130,000 K of my memory right now). It runs ok, but I don't think my computer should work this hard for browsing the internet. I like Firefox because it has adblocker and noscript. Are there any other browsers that have the same or similar features and use less memory?
opera chrome
Opera or Chrome.
I don't know, 133mb seems about right for firefox(current 147mb with 6 tabs open). [editline]09:56PM[/editline] And basically what the above user said.
Chrome.

Chrome or Chrome.
Chrome > Opera/FF as far as how I use it
Chrome or Chrome.
You forgot Chrome
Probably Chrome :smug:
Only 130,000 K? Mine is usually above the 500,000 I thought this was normal oh god what
Chrome Or Opera.
I'll probably get boxes for not just saying "Chrome", but you could also give Flock a go. I've been using it for a while now, it's pretty good. Built off of firefox, but I chose it because firefox refuses to save my passwords! Because they are so similar switching from FF to this is very easy ;) And you never know, it might fix your problem.
Opera.
Opera all the way man You can completely customize the interface at will, it's very handy for small screens
Jesus christ, you want to switch your browser just because Firefox eats 130MB of your ram? I thought you actually had some serious problems with it. Seriously, why does everyone want their ram to be completely empty? Ram is meant to be used. Unless you have less than 512MB of it, i really don't see a problem.
It runs ok, but I don't think my computer should work this hard for browsing the internet.
:raise: What?

RAM is meant to be used yes, but when your application stops working momentarily its a bit of a waste.
Chrome has ad blocking (with an extension). I dont think there's a noscript one.
Chrome has ad blocking (with an extension). I dont think there's a noscript one.
Yeah, I just got to playing with chrome this morning. Its nice and all But anyone know if it has a noscript addon? Or alternatively, do I need it? Its pretty annoying.

Ok, so far it seems chrome runs pretty fast, no hitches yet. But it is doing this: It is running pretty well but why is it run a few times at once?
Ok, so far it seems chrome runs pretty fast, no hitches yet. But it is doing this: [Picture] It is running pretty well but why is it run a few times at once?
It uses a new process for each extension, plugin and webpage. If one crashes, the others stay up. It also gives greater security. Oh and lets you take advantage of multicore cpus.
It uses one process per tab
It's using 51k o.O... mine is only using 15k ..
My ram stays about 1Gb used. My CPU Usage is >10% That is how my PC is when I am on Firefox. [editline]13:25[/editline] http://zedomann.wordpress.com/2010/03/24/google-chrome-review/
Only 130,000 K? Mine is usually above the 500,000 I thought this was normal oh god what
Same here, and I barely have any addons installed. :raise:

130MB is normal for a web browser, stop being retarded even if you have only 256MB of RAM, 130 isn't going to present a problem
Seamonkey. I use it on a lot of older computers. Its basically firefox exactly but with a smaller footprint. And of course, it is made by Mozilla. [img_thumb]http://imgkk.com/i/hv6m.png[/img_thumb]
When Firefox has a memory leak, it can be extremely frustrating. I put up with it for now. RAM is meant to be used yes, but when your application stops working momentarily its a bit of a waste.
It's a cache, not a leak.
