This newsbot is at least 3 months late.
Considering the mod's author posted the update on Saturday 9 February, 2013 that would be a bit of an exaggeration. However, you are right that this is not the first version of the update to have been released. As Paul says in his article, this is the finalised release of version 4. It may be an earlier version you are mistaking this for. Hope that helps clear up any confusion.
i wonder if this version is fixed to work with Windows 8 [editline]o[/editline] How on earth is this dumb? :v:
After looking at the comparison screenshots in the link I just want to know one thing: why the hell does he have 40-50fps in vanilla screenies and a capped 60 in the HD ones? Surely it should be the other way around :v:
improve graphics? uhm... my 560 GTX litterly caught fire with the graphics the game had on highest settings.... do i wanna risk it with my 660TI i'm getting today? =/

EDIT: If your 560 GTX caught fire with this game there was something wrong with it or you'd forgotten to clean the fans.

MaldoHD is really well optimised and looks amazing. Here's an album with comparison: http://imgur.com/a/xYhdi
This texture pack looks weird to me. It actually reminds me of the 512x512 texture packs for Minecraft, it's a bit overkill IMHO.

It's really annoying to point to a game like it caused your card to be bad and not handle the load.

I've only heard old cards that would burn like that.
This texture pack looks weird to me. He isn't even resizing the textures so you can't say hes over killing it in detail. Why do some people feel the need to complain about mods like this that add subtle details? Just because a dev made a pretty game doesn't mean it can't be made to look better. Devs can only add as much detail as the development schedule permits. Oftentimes they aren't able to refine the artistic assets as much as they want, and thus we get things that look good but could be made even better. All this dude is doing is he's adding and refining some of cryteks more iffy artistic details. He's adding fitting decoration to make the game even more artistically pleasing. As long as it fits with the vanilla game and it's executed well there is honestly nothing bad about what he's doing. Why is it suddenly considered over detailed just because he fixed some ugly textures and added decorations to otherwise bland areas?
