• Laptop or Desktop?

Simple question really, what type of computer you use? I myself use a laptop after i once used a custom built desktop. However i now use a laptop for several reasons. Firstly it lets me play games i have on it pretty much where i go. I find this rather convenient as i move about the house and to a lesser extent the city often with it. It is a dell studio 1558 with i5 processor, and let's me play a fairly decent collection of games (Orange box, total war series, etc) However the problems i have noted is that it is more likely to break down and harder to upgrade than a desktop computer. The good news however is my old laptop was able to play most games without too much of a decrease in speed for about 5 years and it served me well. Now i ask you fine gentlemen, what you use and why.
I voted laptop but meant to do desktop :v:
Harder to upgrade? How about impossible to upgrade.
Harder to upgrade? How about impossible to upgrade.
No, you can still upgrade some things like HDD for example.
No, you can still upgrade some things like HDD for example.
HDD and RAM most of the time.
I use a desktop, although I would like to purchase a laptop someday.
Well, they're both better at different things. A laptop obviously is more compact, but it is crap for gaming pretty much. A desktop, however is better with Hardrive, RAM, processing power, and a lot of other things too.
Harder to upgrade? How about impossible to upgrade.
Whoever says it's hard to upgrade laptop, is wrong. You can even upgrade CPU and GPU at some laptops. Mine's have just normal cpu socket, which I can stick another cpu
I use an iPad.
i use an ipad.
yay for you!
Voted laptop, but since the Steam update i can't play any of my games :crying: It's just so laggy now :frown:
Desktop, cheaper and more reliable.
LAPTOP. I have a sexy bitchin' laptop and it runs all my games perfectly and I can bring it anywhere i want. I have an external WD hardrive and it is sexy. Desktops are a little cheaper but you are stuck in one spot
Laptop, you can use it for school, bring it to your friends house, etc.
Desktop, cheaper and more stable.
I had a desktop for few years and I never actually upgraded it. laptops can be taken anywhere, and even when working on a desk, are considerably smaller and noiseless, and when it gets old and obsolete you can always buy a new one. So laptop.
Laptops are good and all, but desktops can be modified in any way you like.
Desktop. Shitload cheaper to make and upgrade.
How can you use other than laptop or desktop?
How can you use other than laptop or desktop?
Palmtop, Mainframe, etc.
no option for both?
no option for both?
The thread is asking what you are using most of the time/like most.
Desktop, currently i have no need to carry my computer everywhere + It's much faster and easy to use
Both
Desktop. It is pretty much stronger in every way, more control, you can adjust where things are, cheaper normally, possible to upgrade & fix and more stable. I dislike laptops, they are too fiddly and weak for me. Unless you buy really expensive ones where you could buy a much better desktop, but I will agree a laptop is one thousand times more portable but they are still a bitch to keep charged.
I prefer gaming laptops myself because I don't mind the extra cost and weight and my laptop bag easily fits a couple of extra batteries for extended battery life [editline]11:46AM[/editline] I'm a portable gaming freak so I don't really like desktops
Desktop.
