When i am playing my games, i start off good with 140-150 fps. But randomly i will get 10 fps for like 10mins then it goes away. I checked my processes and it said there is nothing running?
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html download and run this, play a game for a while then post a screenshot of the temps
overheating.
You say it goes away? If the game's decent, cap the FPS at 60, so your card isn't working itself to death.
Enable v-sync, it caps the FPS at 60FPS like the above post suggested
or he could just clean out the heatsinks and solve any heat problems instead of doing dumb fixes and workarounds?
It doesn't cap FPS to 60, it caps it according to your monitor refresh rate to be exact
It doesn't cap FPS to 60, it caps it according to your monitor refresh rate to be exact
Sadly, not always. Dead Space 2 caps to 30 FPS :argh:
Enable v-sync, it caps the FPS at 60FPS like the above post suggested
It caps to the highest power of 3. 15-30-60-120. And it always rounds down. Also this doesnt fix annything.
It caps to the highest power of 3. 15-30-60-120. And it always rounds down. Also this doesnt fix annything.
I think you're talking about multiples of 3, in which however the powers are included.
Open up the case, use a shop-vac or a compressed air can and BLOW IT OUT REAL GOOD. I did this. It made me run ~20C cooler. I've also never seen so much dust in my entire life.
The graphics cards overheating, I had heat issues on my 8800 GT, are you running the latest drivers? Last one fucked up the fan on a number of cards, also the fan on alot of cards is capped (Since someone decided they should be quiet, even if their burning up), you could try using RivaTuner to pull the fan up to 100% if you dont mind the noise
