• Broke the dock connector pins in my iPhone

Recently, we had a large snowstorm where we had about 20 inches of snow. So you could assume that our power went out several times. I really had no problem with it though. As long as I had my iPhone right? I mean, I am usually on that anyway. So then when I was having a conversation with my girlfriend, I say "Hold on I need to charge it" and so we were laughing because the plug wouldn't go in. We were making comments and laughing because I was saying things "This thing's still a virgin!" and "I should just pound it in there!" and all that stupid shit. Just trying to make her laugh. So I did the dumbest thing in the world, I pushed the charger in all the way until it fit. I thought it was hard to plug in because of a dent I had around the chrome ring. So It charges fine until suddenly it gives me a 20% battery warning again. I unplug the charger and then the whole iPhone just turned off. Then I looked down the dock connector and I see a few pins missing. I no longer have a warranty because it's jailbroken, and since I cant restore, well, it's going to stay jailbroken.
Oops, I thought you said the wire was broken. Sounds like you're fucked unless you could get it to connect long enough to restore.
I'd say your best bet is get the charger and see if you can jolt it into life just long enough by wiggling the connector until it works to get into the menus to reset it to factory condition.

You can still probably take it in. Apple isn't going to fix it so it charges and then be like oh this is jailbroken we won't fix it. They will just take and fix it for $100 or if you have apple care.

It's got so many scratches because I never had a case when I first got it.
Um, power's out? Trying to charge an iPhone? Do those contradict or are you charging it from your computer?
Just buy a new dock, and charge it.
Um, power's out? Trying to charge an iPhone?
Just buy a new dock, and charge it.
It's not the dock itself, it's the pins INSIDE it.
If you send it to apple, they will fix it, regardless of the firmware installed. It's a hardware issue, not a software issue, so they have no business modifying anything on your ipod.
Take it to apple, only way to get it fixed.
Take it to apple, only way to get it fixed.
Or iPod repair companies seperate to Apple.
Or you can just go to fixit... http://www.ifixit.com/iPhone-Parts/iPhone-3G-Dock-Connector/IF137-009
Or you can just go to fixit... http://www.ifixit.com/iPhone-Parts/iPhone-3G-Dock-Connector/IF137-009
I'd much rather have someone do it rather than me. Also they get these parts cheaper. If I'd bought the parts for a classic I needed repaired I would have spent £10 more than it cost me in the end, plus time and the risk of me screwing it up.
