Oh fuck off, when someone does something better than you, bitching and moaning wont help you.

It takes a shitload of training to become a cabbie like having to learning every single road in London. People think Uber is dodging all sort've taxes through the app. Its a small thing but cabbies are a cultural icon to London and the UK, they got a spot in the opening ceremony for the Olympics. I see your point about then doing something more simplified and efficient but black cabbies are more than just cabbies.

England still has a Queen but she's just a cultural symbol because actual queen services are outdated and no longer needed.
I agree that Uber should pay taxes in the UK providing that they make money from this country, but they certainly shouldn't be shutting it down. Taxis in the UK are a fucking ripoff, and maybe instead of trying to shut down the competition, they should, you know, make themselves more competitive instead of relying on rimming the Government asking them to protect their traditional British institutions.
How can you force people to use something they don't want to by just removing the competition altogether? It's not unfair, it's called BUSINESS. Get over it. I know a lot of people are losing money, jobs, and probably a lot of sadness has come from it, but that's how the world works.
Mrs Hodge claims the firm is "opting out of the UK tax regime"
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/businesslatestnews/9668396/Margaret-Hodges-family-company-pays-just-0.01pc-tax-on-2.1bn-of-business-generated-in-the-UK.html
So, have the Uber drivers pay the tax in their relevant country. And require them to undergo the required training, certification and regulation of drivers in said country. Now they are on equal footing. Except they are still gonna bitch and moan when that happens, simply because Uber has adapted to the modern age. That is the reason they are blowing away the competition. Everything else is smoke and mirrors and trying to hang on to their market share.
