In recent days I've really been putting a lot of hours into From Software's title Dark Souls, I finally managed to roll a decent character and am well on my way to beating the game for my first time. My greatest victory so far would have to be in Blighttown where I had gone in human, I was able to reach the first bonfire without too much trouble but lacked the humanity to kindle it, so estus flasks were low. Shortly after I got up from the bonfire something strange happened, especially for Blighttown. I was invaded, not at all a strange thing to happen but it's highly unusual in blighttown as far as I've seen. So needless to say I couldn't rest, so I went in a mad dash towards the 2nd bonfire (the one in the poison lake). At this point I probably only had about 3 flasks left but was unable to rest at or light the second bonfire. After receiving some guidance from a friend on where to go from there I found my way to Quelaag with only one flask remaining. The fight lasted about 5-10 minutes due to most of my time being spent dodging but I was able to get in one last hit for the kill before she murdered me. After that the story winds down a bit and I found my way to Quelaan, very satisfied with myself.
What are your favorite victory stories? Or even your greatest defeat? Just interested in hearing some of the experiences other players have had.
I played it for an hour and beat about 4 bosses before rage-quitting.
This reminds me, I've got to pick this game up again. I remember it being really fucking hard, but fair at the same time.
Yeah, there are some cheap moments but for the most part if you die it's mostly on you. But it's been an extremely rewarding experience playing it again.
Beating the Stray Demon with a Hunter's Knife +1
And I only had 10hp in the end with no estus.

The Stray Demon has been pissin me off to no end. I'll head back to the asylum to give him a couple attempts but usually get mad and leave.

He's basically a carbon copy of a required fight later, so hey. What you need is a high-magic-resistance shield or the patience to keep your distance most of the time.

Alright I'll give that a try, thanks. I usually try slipping behind him then rolling back when he tries to do the ground slam aoe, but his vertical swing aoe is really hard to avoid.
Soloing Tom and Jerry.
And a little bit before that; not getting blasted off the architecture of Anor Londo by the Silver Dicks.

Yeah, just stay behind him the ENTIRE fight. The hardest part is when you first fall in.
I invaded someone and in less then 5 seconds after I invade another darkwraith kills the host. I consider that a great moment.

To each their own I s'pose.
some ass hat who invaded me was going after backstabs only, so I pulled out my gaping dragon axe and smacked the fucking ground and he went boom.

Ahaha sounds like a rad time, once I got invaded in Anor Lando so I spent 5 minutes hiding from the dude just to piss him off where you find the dragonslayer greatbow, once he found me I just riposted his little babby crystal club.
I beat the first boss
I killed the Invader.
I stared an invader down for five minutes, standing perfectly still while he shimmed around me and tried to aggro me like an AI.
So when he finally does a slow jump attack with a hammer, I side-step it and smack him with my Smough's Hammer +5. Mine was bigger.

Nice, I tend to use a lightning claymore or my fully upgraded Cursed Artorias' Greatsword.

[sp]For those of you who don't get it...
I placed an item on the edge and put some prism stones around it. The goal was to get the invader to stand there so I could shoot him with off with my Dragonslayer Greatbow. However, this invader seemed to have slipped off while picking the item up.[/sp]

Reminds me of this video except with much more malicious intent.
