so, a couple days ago i decided i'd get into flash animation, vectoring, all that fun jazz and try to get some cartoons out. problem being, i don't know jack squat about animation programs nowadays. so if you guys wouldn't mind, can you tell me what the better/decent animation programs are and what i need to know?
thanks.
Adobe Flash is pretty much the way to go, as for vector drawing you can use Adobe Illustrator or Fireworks. Their is alot you need to learn by the sounds of it, a good tutorial website is lynda.com
You'll have to learn Actionscript
Animation does not require Actionscript
Anime Studio Pro works well and you can export animations as flash files. Also the bone function thing works really well and makes it much easier. I don't think you would be able to put them on a site like Newgrounds though because you wouldn't be able to make a preloader.

I forgot to mention it also has a vector drawing system built in but I don't use it.
