Experiencing Terrible Connection Drops and Packet Loss - Plusnet
4 replies, posted
Greetings
I am experiencing terrible stability with my plusnet broadband. I am getting 30% packet loss but I have 40mb/s upload and download. My broadband will lose connection to the ISP every 15 minutes, or when I activate a download,
here is my speed test:

The graph which documented my connection was pretty much a sin wave, where it would reconnect and then drop shortly after.
This is of course, very annoying. Completing a skype call is a huge task for me as I drop connection every 4 minutes.
If you know anything that can fix this issue, please let me know!
THanks!
Is this on ethernet or wireless?

I'm on two wireless relays,
I've tried connecting my self to the router, same issues.
Have you tried contacting plusnet to make them aware of an issue?
When your connection drops, does your modem appear to restart?
There could be problems with the coaxial cable signal, causing your modem to lose the signal occasionally. To fix that you should call your internet provider like Levelog said, they should send down a techie to look at the connections. Things like coaxial splitters can weaken the signal, which was required at my house to get it in the proper range. (it's going through two splitters lmao). Poor cables or connections can add static to the signal as well, the tech that came to my house replaced a few old connectors with some more modern ones.
