• Help me decide on a netbook for my mum please

Hi, My mum's birthday is coming up and me and my brother have decided to get together and buy her a netbook. Our budget is £200, and she basically checks her email, uses powerpoint/word and goes on skype. Oh, and it needs to have a VGA output because she needs to be able to hook it up to a projector for presentations. There's a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 on the Dell website (refurbished) for £213 including delivery. It has pretty much the same specs as every other £200 netbook, and the reviews etc. are good and it looks pretty decent. Has Windows 7 Starter. There's also one from the ASUS 1000-PX range on sale at Comet, which comes in at £205. Same specs as the Dell, but it has Windows XP instead of W7 Starter. It looks nice as well, and apparently it's made of carbon fibre so that's pretty badass. Those are the main ones I've found, so out of those two, which do you think is better? Or if you know of another netbook/laptop which is round about £200, feel free to recommend. Thanks a lot [editline]10th November 2010[/editline] Here's the ASUS: http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/680214/ASUS-1001PX-BLK102X/tab/specification And the Dell: http://outlet.euro.dell.com/Online/SecondaryInventorySearch.aspx?rn=1107&SC=lowToHigh&c=uk&cs=ukdfh1&l=en&s=dfh
I wouldn't get a netbook with starter (windows 7), IIRC you can only run 3 programs at once.
XP > W7 Starter
For any Windows, XP should still be the first choice for Netbooks - especially over Win 7 Starter.
I would take W7 HP over XP
I see. A few other people are saying that the Dell looks better, so is there no way that I could find a really cheap version of XP for it?
Starter is fine, you just have no way to change the desktop "Officially". If I recall the 3 application limit was removed before it even shipped.
I honestly don't know the price, but the netbook I'm using now(my moms) is an Acer Aspire One, 10.1", running XP. I don't know if you've seen it or not, thought I'd just put it out there. Of those two though, I don't think it matters, but definitely XP on it.
get one with a lot of storage for her porn (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - verynicelady))
get an MSI Wind U100. plenty powerful for all that stuff, runs XP home.
