RAM - Does 5-5-5-14 go to 5-5-5-18 when combined with older modules?

Hey.
So I have 2 GB of old DDR2 800 MHz(400X2) modules and I want to get 2 Gigs more.
Everest says the old ones are 5-5-5-18, newer modules all have better latency times.
I know they can't run with different times so my question is: If I stick in "better" ones, does it automatically step them down to the slower latency?
yes
Yes, by default everything gets set to the settings the "worst" module is rated for. Although the old modules are rated for 5-5-5-18 latencies, they may work just fine at lower latencies if you change the appropriate BIOS settings manually. But it probably won't make much difference anyway and may cause some instability, so it's not really worth bothering with.
