Well, it's a start towards actually becoming worth it. Thing is, buying a Sims game on launch is kind of a mug's game since it's so incomplete in comparison to the previous titles. For now it's best to get Sims 3 with all the content, then play that until Sims 4 has all the things.
Still waiting for the "Pools and Pets" expansion where they add pools and pets back in.

Pools have already been added back in for free in a patch, as well as ghosts, and two new careers plus a few extra small clothing and holiday themed items. Pets are still probably gonna be their own expansion though.
Oh right, I forgot about the pool thing, so I'l give them that at least.
Also, whenever I think of Sims 4, I think of the hilarious vanilla campaign that TB and Genna did, with TB recreating the Bain family and Genna freaking out about so many things. Hoo boy, that was a great VoD to watch again.

I was thinking about getting Sims 2 with all the extra content since that's the latest one I played and quite liked it, would getting Sims 3 instead be worth the extra price?
In comparison to Sims 4, I would probably say Sims 3 Complete is definitely still better value at the moment. Haven't played it, but I assume it probably has more content than Sims 2 Complete.

... IF you can deal with 20 FPS or less all the time.

Sims 3 has performance problems, but they aren't that bad nor is the Sims a game that requires insanely high framerates.
20FPS or below? Even if it ain't a twitch precision game that relies on high APM, even 30 is a poor framerate!
How can I get Sims 3 but better performance? I miss open neighborhood and CAST. :( Maybe a future Sims 4 expansion.
How can I get Sims 3 but better performance?
You can't. You can try with stuff like Overwatch and ErrorTrap, but the fate of a Sims 3 game is to eventually become an unplayable mess.
Thats weird because Sims 3 plays perfectly with over 100frames but it always deletes my saves. I never had a issue with performance with Sims.
I also forgot the loading times. I don't know how long they are on an SSD, but they take about 2 minutes (mid-range PC) every time you load a world (which is really annoying when you play World Adventures or Into the Future). I heard for a very small amount of people it takes even up to 15 minutes on initial load.
On topic: This is a small stuff pack (22 buy mode items according to ModTheSims.com) with some premium content (with unique interactions like the rollercoaster from Sims 3) - which is not worth 20 USD or € in my and many other peoples opinon.
yeah TS3 had insane loading times

I don't know about you, but whenever I play The Sims I expect to atleast play with sims, not be forced to wait for the game engine to catch up / or fix itself over bad programming errors.

Sorry, but Sims 3's performance issues are horrible. Absolutely abysmal.
I love the game, but I can't in good conscience say they "aren't that bad". It ran like shit, it crashed, it took ages to load anything, it was an unstable, volatile mess. And yeah, Sims isn't a series where a frame or two can make a difference, but there's nothing good that can be said about low framerate. It shouldn't be ignored.
Frankly, I hate Sims 4's load screens when transitioning between lots, and I hate that they removed Create-A-Style because I loved that feature. But if they needed to do that to make sure the game didn't run like Sims 3 did, I can understand entirely.

Do you have any expansions or added content? The game actually gets significantly worse for each one you have.
Are they going to release expansion packs, stuff packs and game packs now?
I hope these replace stuff packs. They were so pointless. Never bought one.
This seems at least worth something.
if they do release stuff packs make them actually worth it...
