• Missing hard drive in "my computer"

Recently I went out and bought a 500 GB WD drive. I put it in, bios sees it, but when I start up. The drive doesn't exist in my computer. It's on cable select on the second plug on the IDE cable.
What OS ?

Right click on 'My Computer', hit 'Manage' and select 'Disk Management'. You new drive should be in the list, you'll need to right click and format it before it can be used.

You mentioned it was set to cable select on the 2nd connection of the IDE channel. Have you tried setting it to slave?

It says "Cisnet blah blah blah" and it just sits there. Does that when ever a drive is on slave. I'm not sure why..
