Well i asked for a new TV for christmas. My parents got me one. Its a Dynex 32". It sounds like a bullshit brand to me. Then I look on the box and it states that it is 16:9 and has 720p resolution. I look up on wikipedia and find that 720p is 16:10. I don't want a piece of shit TV on my wall, so should i tell them to go out and buy me a real brand? I need some help clearing this up. I may sound like a brat but i just don't settle on any display.
If I were you I would be grateful, some people don't get any presents at all.
(INB4 Jews)
oh well.
i don't think they are going to rebuy your christmas present, instead they'll just call you a brat.
Don't be greedy, you bastard.
Depends if your family are rich or not. If they are yes if they're not no.
Dynex is pretty shitty, but 720p should be fine.
Not live in a mansion rich but we have money. Just looked it up, its only a $300 tv. So yay, or nay?
what the hell are you complaining about, that is awesome
A free, not very good TV is always better than no TV. I've heard Dynex isn't a horrible brand, but its no high end one either. Just try the TV out and see how it looks. If it turns out to be a turd, than just return it. I'm sure your parents will understand if you show them it is a real POS. Generally when I ask for this technology stuff, my parents actually make me find a specific brand and model, just so they know they won't feel bad if I screw up. lol.
You're the kind of person that doesn't deserve anything at all. I'm grateful for the little things that I get, even if it's second hand or "bullshit" brand. Go give that tv to a family that would appreciate it asshole.
Dynex is an okay brand, not top of the line, but okay. Why not be grateful?
also, 720p is 16:9.
You get coal for christmas asshole

Thats very greedy and bratty to say you don't want that television in your parents face, you should be grateful not everyone has a good tv.
Its the little things that makes a person, its the ungratefulness that hurts a person.
Everybody quit bitching. I've had a PoS tv for the past 10 years and I want a good one if im going to get one. I would rather get another one that will last a good 5-7 years than one that will break on me in 1-2.
Dynex's aren't top of the line, but they are a reliable television company. Be happy that they loved you enough to buy you a tv greater than 30".

So then keep your pos tv because that's what you deserve.

Hey. Shut your mouth.

You are technically right. 720p is 16:9. HOWEVER, many 720p televisions are not actually 720p. They are actually 768p (1366x768). Which IS 16:10. Its weird, but I've heard its because LCD television manufacturers use some of the same panels as widescreen computer monitors which are 16:10. Out of laziness and production costs, they just use the same panels from computer monitors. At least, that is what I have heard.

but what if they use panels from 16:9 monitors

Then my mind has been blown. But seriously, look up some 720p TVs online. Many times in the specs it will say 1366x768 in the resolution. Or be some other 16:10 ratio resolution. There are some 16:9 720p TVs though, so it isn't always true. Look at all these "720p" TVs on Newegg.

Notice how none of them are really 720p (1280 x 720). Their native resolution is larger than that. Not saying that's a bad thing though. The extra space is good for computer monitor use.
