It only has a USB 3.1 Type A, mini DisplayPort, and a proprietary port for charging/docks. If it had a Thunderbolt and Type C port to go along with that it'd be so much better. As it is it's just a very nice Ultrabook. I like the Alcantra on the base and the 3:2 screen, but it's nothing super special anymore.
I don't understand why they continue to only have one usb port. It was a terrible decision on my sp3, it's an even worse decision on an actual laptop. They really want me to use Bluetooth everything but I'd rather just have my hassle-free wired mouse and not have to sacrifice my ability to use a thumbdrive unless I plug in a usb hub. This is such a straightforward proposition: it's a regular PC laptop. It has no trickery; no tear-off keyboard, no special hinge, no detachable GPU, none of the other things that have made the Surface Pro, Surface Book, and Surface Studio notable or unusual. It can't be said any plainer: Surface Laptop is just a PC laptop. This makes Microsoft's latest offering an easier sell than the other Surface hardware. Potential buyers don't need to learn and understand how a new kind of device will fit into their lives, because they already know how they use laptops. As such, I expect sales will be vigorous.
Considering all you have to do is flip out a kickstand and you can use the surface pro like a regular laptop, it baffles me that someone would have the hundreds of dollars to buy this but the mental capacity of a chipmunk that leads them to be too confused about the surface pro and require a standard laptop.
Problem with the surface pro is that you have to buy the keyboard separate which adds another hundred some odd dollars to an already expensive purchase
A few higher ups at my company have Surface Pros and I despise troubleshooting those things. They always have issues.

And ofcourse it's soldered in so you can't swap in higher capacity sticks.

It's a decent tablet for some tasks but I can't stand using it as a tablet the entire time. It's just a Bluetooth keyboard with magnets and designed to prevent screen scratching, and there's plenty of thirdparties that make those.
16 GB for a tablet/faux laptop isn't a low amount at all.
Depends on what model they have. The Surface Pro 3's highest-tier model was priced at around $2000 and only had 8.
Fuck sake lmao a USB3? on a mobile device? :v: WHAT
What's so weird about that?
What's so weird about that?
I think it's the fact there's only a single USB port he's baffled about.
Not putting USB Type C as the charging solution on this and the updated SP was a big mistake, they're just prolonging a switch that makes all kinds of sense.
