And watch again as this will not make a difference.
If it's kicked in it's not doing a good job, I'm guessing Google get's a shit load of DMCA letters about The Pirate Bay yet The Pirate Bay is still on top of the search list.
I'm a big Google fan, but I hate that they're doing this. For a company that promotes net neutrality, this is a dick move.

Their search algorithm is so robust it can still do its job of finding stuff even when Google's Devs try to sabotage it. :v:
And yeah, TPB is still on the top. And no, Google's actions will ultimately mean chicken shit in regards to stopping piracy of any kind.

The problem is that it's a middle ground because nobody wants to actually do what's necessary to stamp out piracy (esp. google). It only takes valid DMCA takedowns into account, which you might say is a great idea except for a site like TPB which is able to completely avoid the legal processes, flout its illegal nature, stay up after dozens of seizures, and at this point is so ingrained into internet culture with a cult-like following that companies have stopped trying. They don't want to be posted on TPB's main page and get demonized for asking TPB to lawfully take down a torrent that they're hosting.

A company can support neutrality while being against piracy. Just because they don't want people going to those sites to steal content doesn't mean they want the sites gone.
This isn't going to stop Piracy at all
What's to stop you from joining any IRC chat and asking for torrent site recommendations?
Not to mention the hundreds of other search engines...

It just makes it harder for people who don't know about the sites to stumble on them when looking for something like "Breaking Bad Season 5 free".
