Yeah collecting money in games can be nice but only if there is plenty of stuff you want to buy with said coins.

Having that in new Mario games would be pretty neat.
Not all that glitters is gold.
really should be a Wario game.... Super Wario Brothers.
really should be a Wario game.... Super Wario Brothers.
That would also help distinguish New Super Mario Bros. 2 from New Super Mario Bros. Wii U.
A game around gold obsession should be abour Wario and Waluigi seeing you know, its what they're themed around.
Maybe they should put Wario as a playable character too
When you reach 1 million coins Wario should swoop in and steal them all
really should be a Wario game.... Super Wario Brothers.
Wario used to have a "Wario Land" platforming series on the Gameboys. I played 3 and 4 as a kid and they were great as far as I can remember. [editline]25th July 2012[/editline] I actually remember that in 3, you couldn't die.

It doesn't make any sense. I would LOVE to see an old school style Wario game again, where you could get different hats that let you do different things, like shoot fire, jet, etc.

But Nintendo is... different. They'd almost certainly consider such a thing to be "too risky" because they're practically allergic to risktaking. Mario and Pokemon games seem to be the only thing they don't need a huge uproar to make without massive hesitation. And they wouldn't include Waluigi because they never do anything with him and seem determined to see it stay that way.

I don't think so, maybe not with their games, but they've been gambling a lot with their console releases since the GameCube (Wii, DS, 3DS, Wii U).
They were both going on about how good it felt to get coins. It was just about the time that Super Mario 3D Land was finishing up, and in that game Mario can put a Question Block over his head.
this reads like an euphemism for sex
"They were both going on about how good it felt to get coins." wait really I always felt like coins in modern Mario games were pointless leftovers of the NES era. It feels good to get 100 coins and get a 1-up, I guess? But just grabbing them while playing is so damned mindless one can hardly call it satisfying. Maybe if this was a Wario game it would feel good to get loads of emone, but considering that it isn't I can't see the premise working too well.

DS, hardly a risk, just a step up from the GBA, which was fine. 3DS, again, hardly a step up, just slide in another gimmick and update the hardware Wii U is probably also a risk, but I haven't read much about that so I won't make uninformed comments

Only Wario Land I remember was the one for the Virtual Boy. That shit was awesome.
just last night i was having a discussion about why a new wario game needs to be made well, this should have been it.

The WiiU was a compromise between those two things. They weren't willing to give up gimmicks completely but they switched from a risky motion control gimmick to a much safer touch screen gimmick and updated the hardware to be somewhat above current gen standards. Given the options Nintendo has and their general way of thinking, it's a relatively safe design. The reason why it's so hard to have faith in Nintendo isn't because of the WiiU, it's because of Nintendo themselves. They put themselves in this situation, after all.

I just said Super Wario Bros because for the playstyle of New Super Mario Bros 2, you wouldn't be able to really call it Wario Land in my opinion.
