Yeah,
Atari's Pong was an arcade game credited with helping kick-start the multi-billion pound video games industry but more recent titles include 'Centipede', 'Missile Command' and Rollercoaster Tycoon'.
would probably be part of the reasoning behind it. They are only remembered for what they made ages ago and aren't doing anything to stay relevant. Also treating the people that work for you like shit probably doesn't help either, when you're already not making very good games.
this isn't even the same atari that made pong and stuff it's a different company that owns all the trademarks and shit
The old atari is long gone. As will this one :)
Maybe, just maybe, they'll sell off the rights to Roller Coaster Tycoon to someone who actually wants to do something with them (back to Chris Sawyer or Frontier maybe?) and we'll see a true RCT4. (it's owned by Atari, Inc, and not Atari France / Infogrames) [sp]but for the love of HOLY FUCK not Electronic Arts[/sp]
this is what's up
Uh no, from what I can work out Atari, Inc is a subsidiary of Atari, SA, and SA is the rebranding of Infogrames - Inc have gone bust, SA are still trading It's kinda confusing to work out where the assets lie though, as Infogrames brought a load of stuff like Microprose, but Inc were making games with them, so you would've thought they had rights to it
well at least i made a cool looking graph :c
The last time I bought an Atari produced(?) game was a looong time ago. It was NWN2 which was an absolute garbage game considering no matter how long I played it I couldn't get the camera to work for me. I hate to say it, but it's not really a big loss.
well at least i made a cool looking graph :c
It's all a huge titsup at the moment, confusing the shit out of me too. Guess we'll just have to see how both companies decide who owns which assets
