• So something weird just happened in a Steam group chat and I don't know how.

My friend and I were in a Steam group chat together. (We use it to send event notifications to our group of friends and to have a convenient place to chat.) The group is invite-only so no random people can join and ruin our good name. We started talking about Nintendo's E3 plans when a user named "MOTHER 3 FOR US OR RIOT" entered the chat and immediately left. Now, there's nobody in the group with that name, nor did any of them have that alias at any point. I don't know if they were named that because of the conversation about Nintendo my friend and I were having, or if it was just some nutty coincidence. So my question is: What the heck could have happened? Could I or my friend have a virus? Could it be some exploit in Steam?
Group members can invite friends to group chats iirc

You can change your steam name to something else, then get rid of it from your aliases in less than 5mins.
I expect it was just someone from the group dicking around with changing their Steam alias, or maybe you have to tamper with the group chat options in group settings so that the chat itself is only for members of the group.

The only thing anybody else could do was invite outside people to the chat. [editline]24th May 2015[/editline] All right, never mind. My friend accidentally invited the wrong guy to the chat. I panicked. A mod can lock the thread if they want it gone. Thanks guys!
