First time post on here, so sush.
So, i just read an article that said no current generation pc can run BF3 on max, and since im a fps/quality whore, i MUST run it on max. This isnt just for BF3, i'll also be playing alot of MW3 and possibly Skyrim.
Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz
MOBO: ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 AM3
GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6850
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
Intel i5 2500k, a P67 / Z68 MOBO and a 580 should max it.
What is your budget anyways?
that looks like a pretty good system, why wouldnt you just wait for the game to come out, and then try if the game runs well and then decide if its time to buy a new computer
Just wait until the game comes out to build another computer, that way you can get a computer that will not lag behind if you were to buy it before the games come out.

Good point, because by the October release, Nvidia 6xx series and AMD 7xxx series will possibly come out, and i dont have an exact budget right now. WAITING TIME!
your computer is already really good and can play bf3 smoothly at high settings
do you really want to waste a shitload of money on an upgrade that's not going to change anything except give you an extra 10-20 fps in a game you can already play smoothly
i have a 5770 and i am not concerned in the slightest for bf3 because i know i'll be able to play the game super nice

I don't know what resolution you are playing, but a 5770 will not run bf3 super nice unless you put everything on medium.
Scissors cut cut
Leave it and upgrade after
I played the alpha with an i7 860 and 5850 smoothly
Although a lot of graphical options weren't implemented, textures looked a bit muddy, more like the game was on medium.
Although I guess it will run it fine anyways. Probably best to leave it
-Confusion-
It was locked at Low
oh :v:
Ignore everything I said

Well
I'm not so sure now actually
I was talking to my friend that was in the Alpha and said he said they weren't locked but in the BF3 thread they said it was locked so I don't know.
Sorry for the confusion
Well, I got access to the beta, so if I need any upgrades, I'll know before it comes out.
Your computer is pretty capable, you'll definitely play it on medium/high and even if you can just play it on
medium you should wait to upgrade anyway, ivybridge/7000AMD for example.

Thats the alpha, all the graphic options aren't there, mainly dx11. And the guy was only at a max of 900p.
If that's fine with you, cool.
I was just pointing out that you won't run bf3 max with a 5770.
Well, i'm gonna be running the game on 1920x1080 25% of the time and 1280x720 85% of the time. The reason i runn it at 1280x720 is because i like to run it on windowed and have skype or TV on the side.
I guess im okay with medium/medium-high till i save up enough money to get a new gpu.
