Hey, I really want to build a PC from scratch my budget to get started with is about 600$ for basic components (I know that will barely get me started with some basic components) I will get more cash over time and currently have an extra video card layin around. What I want to know is what else do I need as basicly a check list. I def want a quadcore processor. The new intel i7's look good but are a lil expensive. can I get started for 600$ or should I wait a while longer to get more cash? where can I get a cheap mother board and case? is sound important? what other things do I need?
If you want a very good computer, you need to scrape more together. You can get an okay computer for 600 dollars though.

Thats fine so long as you're running at under 1650*1080
Thats fine so long as you're running at under 1650*1080
more like 1920x1080 and above [editline]04:34PM[/editline] which you're not so likely to do on a 4850
You can but not at max settings.
thus "not likely"
Well what kinda graphics card is it.
its a nvidia geforce 9600 verto, a mid end graphics card for my budget [editline]05:51PM[/editline] Im not ordering for a while, my momma just decided to get a new one so I have an old case, motherboard etc to work off of, but I kinda want to gut the interior, for like 300$ what motherboards/cpus can I look at?

With a 9600, you needn't worry about a gpu for at least a few months. You could easily get a good dektop for 400-600, but then you'd be spending 200 on a decent monitor.
