Yes, I need a computer better than my pentium 4, 1.5 gb ram, 5200 nvidia card rig. I'm not aiming to have a rig that runs Arma II on ultra high settings. That's just unesccary and I don't have the money. Put it this way, I wanna be able to play all the STALKERS, BC2, MW2 and so forth with no lag. Fuck lag. At least being able to run Arma II smoothly would be nice too. I don't want a super computer just something above average. My budget is around $600. I know it's not much to work with but it's about all I will be able to get.
Can you salvage the CD Drive and your Hard Drive? Also, what is the resolution of your monitor?
Cd drive yeah. Hard drive is 80 gigs. There's no point. It's shit too but I can get a new one
Assuming you can hold onto your DVD Drive(s) and case... Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 AMD770/SB710 DDR3 1866 PCI-E2.0x16 SATA III SATA - $114.00 HDD: Western Digital 1TB SATA3 64M(WD1002FAEX) - $129.00 RAM: Kingston 2GB DDR3-1333MHZ x 2 - $59/ea. CPU: AMD Phenom II 550 DualCore 3.1GHz 7MB CACHE 80W - $100.50 PSU: Thermaltake EVO Blue 550W w Active PFC 14cm Led Cable Management - $139.00 Total: $ 600.50 All you need is a graphics card. :/ What's the wattage on your current PSU?

what...?
Intel Core i3 530, MSI H55M-E33, Coolermaster eXtreme 460W Combo http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.359257 NZXT Beta EVO (simply an amazing deal for the price, just make sure you buy some 120mm fans along with it) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146059 Powercolor HD5770 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131328 GSKILL Ripjaws 4GB DDR3 1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277 Hitachi Deskstar 1TB SATA 720RPM 32MB Cache http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145304 DVD drive already included as OP has said. Total cost after rebates: $584.91 US Much better than what SSAAMM assembled. This rig will kick ass, I guarantee ;) Oh and don't worry, that 460W can handle all these parts fine as they are all very efficient. EDIT: If you're gonna get fans, get these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200048 Cheap, quiet, and high airflow.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119204 Better case.
Rofl, because it has a window? How about the amount of fan mounts that the Beta has, and the cable management holes, and the better construction quality, and the bottom-mounted power supply, and the dust filters, and the CPU backplate hole? Oh right, the Beta EVO is better than this cheap POS. Get out of here you ricer.
and here I was thinking phone might have actually been useful for a change and not just his usual raging 12 year old self oh well
What are you whining about this time kiddo? I gave the OP a great deal for $600 and your panties all of a sudden get in a real twist.
mmm panties I herd the msi 5770 hawk is selling for pretty cheap right now
Calm down people, its the OP's choice.
Thank you all very much for the suggestions :buddy: I've never even looked at powercolor cards. Figured if Ive never even heard of them they aren't reliable but its got decent reviews. Thank you all again. I'm still looking over the choices you all gave.
Powercolor is a cheap brand but I figured you wouldn't mind since you're on a tight budget.
My newer powercolor is doing alright, but I had a bad initial experience with them. I bought an HD4870, and had to RMA it due to artifacting on arrival. It took 2 months to get back to me, but now it's working fine. [editline]11:09PM[/editline] Overclocks nicely too.
I asked my friend to help. He gave me these suggestions. Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021 Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115207 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184 Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 Graphics Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150439 For the hardrive, I remembered my dad bought a 1TB one a while ago, but didn't have the right cables :v: The case comes with the cables I need. SATA cables I think they're called. What do you guys think of this?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147120 I recommend that case Also, don't get his build, Core 2 Quad/GTS 250 is old.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147120 I recommend that case Also, don't get his build, Core 2 Quad/GTS 250 is old.
If not, then what? All the reviews for the 250 say it can run pretty much all the COD's on high, Bioshock and what not. I don't have much money, so what should I get then?

I know I say I don't want a super computer but it would be nice to run games on very high. Also my main focus on games, my 2 favorite games are the STALKER series and Fallout 3. I'm pretty much basing my system on how well it can run these games. These are pretty graphic demanding games so if it can run these games well, it can run other things nicely.

Is this a good build? It's what I have so far. RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184 Power Metal supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 Graphics Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150439 Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147120 Motherfucker board plus four wheel drive core: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.369414 I already have an extra 1TB HDD laying around.

Just to let you know, which maybe you knew from this thread, but 600 dollars and a lower resolution (1280x1024) monitor can really yeild excellent results. I have dual 17 inch monitors and everything runs on highest settings for the resolution without AA, and my computer cost about 600 dollars 9 months ago. I hope the world of computer building is good to you as it has been to me.
Really? So it's good? Also I have 19 inch moniter.
Really? So it's good?

No.
Grade A advice. Care to explian why instead of just saying no?
for one completely ignoring
5770, $5 more and roughly equal to a gtx260
