• Trying to decide between Gainward GTX 770 and Sapphire R9 280x

Next month I am going to let my good old Radeon HD 6950 FleX retire for use in my lan pc (I don't want to carry around a 1000 dollar pc everywhere). Performance wise they are very similar, and where i live the 770 is only 30 dollars more than the 280x, and the Gainward 770 looks so freaking badass ( http://www.komplett.se/gainward-geforce-gtx-770-2gb-physx-cuda/782149 ). BUT, the whole mantle thing makes me uncertain if i really should get it. My specs: i5 3470 @3.2Ghz Radeon HD 6950 FleX 2x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 500w modular powersupply (I also have a 550w one laying around) 8GB 1600Mhz RAM Help?
Well, the 280X outperforms the 770 by a very small margin, but it still outperforms it so I would suggest it, especially since for you it happens to be cheaper than the 770 where you live.
it happens to be cheaper than the 770 where you live.
Yeah, but not by much, it's like 20 dollars more if you account for the lower incomes in USA, also, i read that the R9 suffers heat problems?
Not with an aftermarket cooler.
At this point it comes down to price If the 280x goes past 330$ then just get a 770 instead
280x has gone way up due to litecoin miners Get this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-n770tf2gd5oc

The gigabyte 280X costs a little bit more than sapphire's but has much better cooling. It's also cheaper and better than the 770. While the gainward "phantom" coolers are usually the best around, i have no idea how their normal cooler stacks up. I wouldn't pay extra for their 770 It's also really odd, because the MSI twin frozr edition of both cards are almost 100$ cheaper in the norwegian equivalent of this site(while most others are more expensive). Maybe take a look around some other trusted sites in sweden?
