(Copied from the old thread)
In this thread, you can talk about the latest Apple products, bitch about problems, ask a quick question or two, or get help and support pretty quickly, without having to make a thread in the help & support section.
If you are an android fanboy and hate all apple products, please keep the hate comments to yourself, likewise for apple fanboys.
Thank you!
I can play anything off of it using iFile. This is superb for movies and stuff.
does it support files like mkv?
I just quickly googled iPhone MKV and this came up https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/imedia-player/id544635606?mt=8

No. I use AVPlayerHD for .mkv files but even when I select to play them using it in iFile it refuses to open. So you'd have to copy it to the AVPlayerHD folder on the device if you wanted to play it.

Doesn't have hybrid decoding like AVPlayer so it only does 1280x720 .MKV files because it's doing the decoding through software. No 1080p. Not really an issue for phones but on my retina iPad the 1080p .MKV movie support was appreciated.

Also I figured out a solution to the lack of Gmail push while not having to use the Gmail app that stutters and gives like no email view space in portrait. I have it set so the Gmail app gives me the notifications and then I'll just go to the normal Mail app when I get one which will refresh when opened and grab the new email from the server.
What's the real difference between the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 camera? The iPhone 5 (based on specs found at the store, apparently it's impossible to find the aperture on the website unless I'm blind) has the larger aperture hence allowing more light.
I've heard that both have the exact same sensor, the only difference is a piece of "LD Glass" (source: friend but not sure if true or not).
So is this true or is there more/less differences?
A lot of the differences relate more to the SoC. The A6 does better image processing and allows for better low-light performance and improved noise reduction, and much better image stabilization. The 5 also does have the sapphire camera lens but I really doubt it affects anything.

Also it's not the same sensor.

adding on top of kaabii, it seems that the sapphire lens apparently allows clearer images to be captured. Not sure if the difference is significant since i do not have a 4S for me to test. Also, kaabii is right about the A6 doing the work allowing better images and video.
If you are, by any chance, asking because you are deciding on a 4S or 5, i would highly recommend choosing the 5 and paying the additional $100-$150 difference; the 5 is a much improved in every function as well as an awesome form factor (to most).

I like the larger screen too :v:
I may have to accidentally buy a 15" rMBP when I'm in the states. Should be pretty nippy with a hybrid hdd.

wait hybrid hdd? thought its all flash
wait hybrid hdd? thought its all flash
Depends on what model you get, I'll have to see how much they cost.
All the retina ones are flash only.

no what im saying is that, unless im misled, 15" rMBP dont have hybrid hdds, its all flash.
the normal 15" MBP uses a hdd, the rMBP uses all flash.
Only fusion drive (mac mini and imac) uses hybrid hdd.

I think my phone has now a pretty good battery life.
I'm still a bit confused about what actually counts as usage because I'm sure the actual screen on time was only about 5-6 hours.

Are there any apps that allow me to see what app has been running for how long?
You'd think it'd be easier to get music from my iPod onto my PC
I bought the damn product, and the damn music, now let me access it you bastards
I think you can pull it off with iTools.
I've found SharePod and it seems to be chugging along nicely
all I want to do is put my music from my old iPod to my new iPod, why is this so much to ask, every other program has spent an hour pretending it's doing something only to announce it's stopped after 100 tracks and they want money before it'll do anything else

Quickly, how much would you pay for an iPod touch 3g 32gb with no accesories or box in good condition but a broken lock button?
Doesn't matter, he agreed to sell it for £50 and I fixed the lock button anyway
What's a good un-biased iOS news site? Like Android Police or Windows Phone Central.

Cult of Mac sounds good!
No in all seriousness, iMore is the sister site of WPCentral but I don't know if that makes them unbiased because Android Central sure as hell isn't. Cult of Mac actually has writers that aren't afraid to call Apple out for being retarded, but they also take unnecessary jabs at Android too. I just read Anandtech's coverage of things, and sift through articles from Macworld, 9to5mac, and Cult of Mac to try and get a perspective about what's going on without having to look through the lens of an Apple fanboy.

I should just make my own tech site as I've used p much all mobile OSes now and don't really care. iOS suites my needs, it's quick and easy whilst still having a decent app selection (something I really missed on WP8 even though I thought I wouldn't).

Would you like a job at a blog I write for? We need more articles on iOS related stuff since we're all Android fanboys here.

I'd love to but I don't have the time really plus I get major writer's block. Takes me ages to write a review.

Well whenever you do have the time, you can help and write if you wish. Just PM me and stuff.

What blog is that? Just curious to check it out.
Has anyone heard any news about the x4ios emulators? I remember an article saying that the guy was working on them, but I haven't heard anything about it in a while.
Oh my fucking god. Google maps 1.1 update, still no iPad version. This isn't Android for gods sake, you NEED a version designed for effectively using large displays.

There ya go
I was getting really horrible distortion on my iPod Touch 3g after iOS 5
It turns out the stock music player for whatever reason has had a bass boost, and it makes the 3g sounds horrendous (distorted bass, can't play music loud as it comes out as a mess)
Some people say it's because they wanted to make cheap shitty headphones (see: the headphones that come free) sound better, but that seems a little weird
either way, I found an amazing music player called "Lagu" that looks identical to the iOS5 player, but with extra features (swipe to cue music, find lyrics, EQ's set to certain tracks ect) and it doesn't have the horrible bass boost.
So that's my finds, if anybody has this distortion problem, I advise Lagu, well, I'd advise it anyway seeing as it's essentially an upgraded player
(No I'm not using the bass boost EQ)
