I have a 650 w PSU and I´m getting:
[release]
[tab]CPU:[/tab]i7 950
[tab]GPU:[/tab]Asus GeForce 9600 gt
[tab]MoBo:[/tab]Asus Sabertooth
[/release]
Will it work well?
what brand and model
[editline]25th October 2010[/editline]
9600 is shit compared to the i7 by the way
Why the 9600?
Bottleneck indeed.
650 is waaaay overkill
650 is waaaay overkill
Not really, the i7 uses up 368 watts on load.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i7-975,2318-10.html
And the 9600 GT uses 242 Watts on 100% load.

I cant even begin to say how much you are wrong
650 is waaaay overkill
Yeah, and why not get an 400W PSU instead, while you are on it? Tss...

no
Instead of 1366, you should take the 1156 socket to save up some money on a better graphic card
[editline]25th October 2010[/editline]
-automerge broken-
Yeah, and why not get an 400W PSU instead, while you are on it? Tss...
400W would be fine
400W would be fine
400W is far too little for his build.
550-650W let you for some future upgrades later (Especially if OP change his graphic card for example)
no
I'm just saying, if he wants to get rid of the 9600 GT he should have enough power.
I'm just saying, if he wants to get rid of the 9600 GT he should have enough power.
A 9600GT uses only 100W and less
[editline]25th October 2010[/editline]
And Silxor, you should stop posting in this section, thank you
A 9600GT uses only 100W and less
So that review counts for nothing?
No your "242-368 watts" were for the entire test system build
[editline]25th October 2010[/editline]
Your misunderstand a little about it
And Silxor, you should stop posting in this section, thank you
No, its people like you who need to stop.
People who just guess things they say, without doing any research
People that cause others to buy wrong/ovepriced parts
People that tell other people wrong facts, which then leads to the other person getting a wrong fact and sharing that fact others, thus spreading the dumbassary in a constant loop.
Your damaging this forum.

Sigh, you're both right in some ways. Although 400W may be adequate it would be very short sighted to buy a 400W power supply, especially since he has a 9600 which he will no doubt have to upgrade soon. You also talk about backing up what you've said but you haven't posted a single benchmark, so here's one

If you have a 400W PSU that is 80% efficient then it will output 320W which is actually less than the power draw of the i7 950 on load with a GTX 260, so you may just scrape it with a 9600. But I wouldn't risk it, maybe you should do some research?

Look who is talking:
People who just guess things they say, without doing any research
Your whole "PSU is overkill. get a 400W one" thing
People that cause others to buy wrong/ovepriced parts
Your build is mainly composed of overpriced components and the fact you pratically turned down every suggestion
People that tell other people wrong facts, which then leads to the other person getting a wrong fact and sharing that fact others, thus spreading the dumbassary in a constant loop.
Go read the first point

Point out ONE, just ONE wrong peice of information I have posted.
If you can do this I will leave and never come back.
you claimed the only difference between the 768MB and 1GB GTX 460s was VRAM

at a resolution where the VRAM will not matter, there is a performance difference
you claimed the only difference between the 768MB and 1GB GTX 460s was VRAM
The only difference is vram, look up the specs.

You've entirely ignored the chart I posted which shows 400W may not be adequate and all that shit I've picked you up on in your thread
The only difference is vram, look up the specs.
Oh dear, you could have admitted your mistake but now you have to compound it. Give me a minute to prove you wrong

You posted no such thing. All you posted was a chart that PROOVED 400w would be ok
EDIT:
Just face it guys, im right.
I forgive you for your stupidity

Reported you because you ignored every comment and because you always claimed to be right. I call this "trolling" for me.
You posted no such thing. All you posted was a chart that PROOVED 400w would be ok
It proved that the components used 400W, but you need a 500-650 W PSU to allow a sufficent room for supply your build
(User was banned for this post ("We dont need to know you reported someone." - birkett))
So, why didn't I get a "new" GPU also? Yeah, I´m probably getting one for christmas. And if I don't, I´ll have enough money by then. But not now. And I´m getting a CPU and MoBo that'll probably work for some years.
