After realising my PC is running INCREDIBLY slowly, I decided to clean it up. I uninstalled things I rarely use Deleted old pictures/music/films etc Used CCleaner ( Used all the tools etc ) Scanned with NOD32 / Spybot S&D Defragged Now I'm left with it still running slow. I don't know what to do, and I don't want to format as I don't have the disc for vista or any OS never mind any drivers for my motherboard etc.
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Basic (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 (6001.vistasp1_gdr.090805-0102) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Also; I've been thinking about using my laptop which has basically the same specs apart from a different gpu and 3GB of ram. Would it be OK to do gaming with it or would it overheat? Thanks for the box.
Start -> MSConfig -> Startup tab Post a screenshot of it.

What do you mean by running slow? Do programs take a long time to load?
Startup takes incredibly long, it starts with a grey background then flicks back and forth until it becomes stable. If I open a folder it will stop responding. It takes ages for programs to open. Web pages are slow to open. ( Not load, open ) Low performance in games.
Try using TuneUpUtilities, when you run it, on the main tab you'll see the recommendations, click on it and let it do his job, it'll ask you some questions just fill it in and your PC may run faster.
http://ccleaner.com/ Download it, hit analyze, then clean. That should help a bit.

Just looked at the temperatures when idle and looked inside. Dust free and low temps...
I recommend you put reinstalling your OS as a final resort, k? You know, just in case nothing else works.
Yeah. That's my plan.. The only problem is that I don't have the disc... EDIT: I just went on GMod and purposely crashed it. Afterwards, my PC was running incredibly slow. I couldn't do anything and even now it's barely usable.. but..
