• New PC Performance Question

After a few years of asking for a new PC, I received one as a surprise gift this Christmas. Problem is, I'm not very familiar with the A10 series APU in it, and I'd like to know what kind of game performance I can get out of it. It's an HP Envy dv6 (and I hope it doesn't overheat like every other HP I've ever had) Specs: Upon review... 87C, how is that even possible? My laptop doesn't feel more than warm.
If every other HP has overheated, then what's to say this one won't? You should check the temperature reading in the bios to see if it's the same
Well, it's consistently been at around 90+ C on speccy, but I can't find the CPU temperature option in BIOS. It seems I can max Fallout: New Vegas, here's hoping Skyrim runs just as well.
I wouldn't exactly say that's overheating, it's in the thermal spec of the processor.
85C is overheating, HP probably put it in the thermal spec to cover their ass
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't HPs have absolutely terribad cooling?
85C is overheating, HP probably put it in the thermal spec to cover their ass
HP can't set the thermal spec of the PROCESSOR, AMD who make the processor do that. Well, if that's true, then I'm not to worried. It runs great so far, I just hope it keeps up under pressure. Any idea as to what the max I could do with it, gaming wise is? I'm getting paid this week and I'd like to shell out for some newer games but I don't want to overeach its capabilities.
Check hwinfo64, it tends to have the best hardware support of all the monitoring programs Speccy is probably reading the wrong value or using the incorrect multiplier If it's really 85C when idle, even if the cpu can handle 100C, that's a little concerning.
Thanks. I checked hwinfo and, providing I'm looking in the right spot, it's saying between 28 and 35 degrees which is very relieving. Never heard of it before, but it sure gives a lot more information than Speccy.
