I don't know if this is the right section for this or not, but:
4 Months ago I got a new HP G62-220CA Notebook. I've been using it for work, and one day I got sick and tired of using windows and installed Ubuntu 10. But I install the ATI drivers for my HD 4250 Inter-graded card. The windows lag when they move, I cannot watch movies / youtube. I can't do much really besides surf the web. I am Not a newbie to Linux.
Can someone please help me with this problem? It's been driving me nuts, and I just can't figure this out.
Maybe the drivers are just shit. Was it running fine without them?
Try disabling Compiz, press Alt+F2 and type "metacity --replace".
If you want to re-enable compiz back, type "compiz --replace".
ATI
Linux
Problem spotted.

Are you sure you're actually running the fglrx module, and the system is not falling back to some shitty VESA driver?
But yes, ATI and Linux are not the best combination out there :(.

So the issue here is that ATI's Linux drivers suck?
The open source drivers are better than ATI's proprietary drivers in some cases, give them a try

Yeah, the out of the box open source drivers are way better for everything but gaming.
