http://kotaku.com/5484948/valve-teases-upcoming-mac-announcement-not-so-subtly?skyline=true&s=i Valve has released a couple of images that can't be anything else than conformations that they're releasing steam and their games on OS X. Haha Valve is pretty badass at that art :D [editline]05:32PM[/editline] I really want that gordon wallpaper.
valve knows how to art [editline]10:40PM[/editline] I wonder if it'll be cider or native
valve knows how to art [editline]10:40PM[/editline] I wonder if it'll be cider or native
I'm going to assume native. I don't think they'd release something like Steam without being native.
The Kotaku article also has a L4D image. Hopefully a Linux version is coming as well.
IMO this is great news, let's hope some developers that have their games on steam bring them over in the future.
cool, so I guess it's official now? [editline]03:58PM[/editline] wait... would this mean we would have to re-buy the games in a Mac OS X version?

Oh fuck yes. Now i don't have to boot in vista every time i want to play garrys mod
I don't think so, there might be some different deals tough.
I wouldn't mind paying like $5 for a copy of the ported version of my Source based games. All I would want are TF2, DoD:S, and L4D2.
Oh fuck yes. Now i don't have to boot in vista every time i want to play garrys mod
inb4 servers that autoban you if you are running it on a mac.
even $10 wouldn't be that bad for a port imo. [editline]05:57PM[/editline] broke my auto-merge
i lol'd
i lol'd
Cool?
Kind of obvious since they have a Steam Mac UI in the Beta and a message for games telling you it's the wrong platform. But hey, the art is new.
I like Freeman's Apple suit, would be cool if it was in the Mac version of Half Life 2 as an easter egg or something.
Or if it is the suit hands and stuff :fuckyou:
Kind of obvious since they have a Steam Mac UI in the Beta and a message for games telling you it's the wrong platform. But hey, the art is new.
but i thought it was leftover from the nonexistent webkit sdk :(
Even though I like Macs better, I did like their TF2 Sentry being upgradable joke. Can't wait for this though.
Oh fuck yes. Now i don't have to boot in vista every time i want to play garrys mod
That's not how it would work.
oh so you know exactly how it works? please tell us.
i don't see why it would be too much of a burden these days seeing as it's not nearly as far from Windows as it was just three years ago. [editline]12:44AM[/editline]
i lol'd
why
I wonder if Gmod will get a mac version.
I wonder what games Valve made will get Mac version. Most likely Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal, Counter Strike Source, and Left 4 Dead 2 since those seem to be their biggest games right now, IMO.
oh so you know exactly how it works? please tell us.
Whilst the Orange Box base would probably be converted for mac, the parts that contain modificaitons by Garry would not be converted, thus not working. It wouldn't be a switch where you just flip it and suddenly everything works. If Garry isn't going to provide Linux bins to server hosters, odds are he won't provide a mac version either.
I jizz... in... my paaaaahnts.
Oh fuck yes. Now i don't have to boot in vista every time i want to play garrys mod
As long as Garry decides to port and support an OSX version. Even if the engine has been ported, doesn't mean everything else has been. Also, as far as I know, Garry doesn't have a mac so Gmod on OSX seems unlikely in the near future. :(

In the thread about this in Valve Games & Mods we were overanalysing the Sentry/Turret image so goddamn much. :D
Just wondering, but how do I know this is not some fan who WANTS it to come to OS X? I've seen no confirmation directly from Valve that it's coming to OS X... Not that I would care, as I'd much rather want it on Linux. Also fixed the turret image:
