Unless it's F2P I probably won't play it, which is a shame because the environments look stunning.
Same here; the MMO as an RPG just doesn't seem to properly work with a subscription-based model anymore. Free-to-play with well thought-out ethical microtransactions, such as cosmetic apparel, dyes and boosts, is a better model; buying power, especially in a F2P model, is an unethical method that shouldn't be encouraged or even allowed, not even in its original realm of East Asia. Buying expansion packs for it, I guess that's ethical.
Also, questing probably needs to be shaken out of the traditional formula, make it more dynamic and have a greater impact on the world as a whole. As for combat, Amalur seemed to have it nailed down, but apparently the game was too easy, even on the hardest difficulty. Hopefully they'll get a massively engaging and intricate story for Copernicus, something that weaves almost seamlessly into the gameplay, and is altered significantly by what the players do.
Use that formula and you'd have a good MMO, albiet damn expensive to make. I hope they make it good, since the world does look kinda gorgeous, and overspending on gorgeousness can mean less budget for the meat of the game.
