These are the two laptops I'm looking at right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=Property&N=100006740&IsNodeId=1&minPrice=800&maxPrice=900&PropertyCodeValue=393%3A53928%2C393%3A49576%2C2923%3A18470%2C410%3A44102%2C410%3A46027&bop=And&CompareItemList=32|34-152-251^34-152-251-TS%2C34-246-094^34-246-094-TS The first one is much cheaper, and I know its worse but I was wondering what kind of difference I could expect between the two? I'm planning on using it for gaming, hopefully running something like skyrim on medium settings, and running league of legends on high settings. Also if there is a better laptop at this price range I'm open to suggestions. found this one as well, thoughts? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215004
Does it have to be a laptop? what im getting at is for 800 USD you can build yourself a decent desktop better than either of those laptops.

The college I'm going to requires a laptop, and I don't really want to buy a cheap laptop and then build a desktop. Anyways I decided to order that last one I posted. Thanks though.
No don't get ACER. Cancel that order right now!
I know acer isn't a good brand, but is it that bad? It was definitely the best deal I could find.
acer shit themselves too easily [editline]21st April 2011[/editline] especially the laptops

All those have worse graphic cards and processors. I'm not against downgrading, though. I need to know what processor is good enough to run what I want, because I really have no idea how processors work. Is an i5 good enough? Even the non sandy bridge ones? Is the sandy bridge i7 on the one I ordered overkill?
I'd rather get a slightly weaker GPU that will cost you 5 frames in order to get a reliable laptop that will last more than two years.
Yes, I definitely agree with that. Out of those that you linked I believe the best would be this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230024 But I'm still confused on the CPU. How much of a performance increase would I notice going from an i5 to an i7? Or to a sandy bridge?
i5 is just as good as i7s in most tasks, including gaming. Also, I don't think there are laptops with Sandy yet.
Are you sure, I thought all the ones with 2xxx were sandy bridges.
Are you sure, I thought all the ones with 2xxx were sandy bridges.
Oh. Never noticed those. I say stick with whatever is cheaper, the performance is most likely unnoticeable except on desktop CPUs.
