Any ideas for a decent job that doesn't require college education?

I tried Google but of course the list of jobs they give you actually do require college to get in, go figure.
Anything in retail, factory/warehouse work, food service are some of the most common ones. If you're skilled and can make stuff then make stuff and sell that stuff.
Self-employment or commission work?

Don't work in retail, the only people with great employment there is the managers.
Go work in a factory or warehouse, they usually promise full time hours at decent pay. You won't get rich off of it but it'll give you a decent start to life.
Factory work, but you will have a repetitive job most likely. I got a job as a dish washer in a restaurant I was kinda repetitive.
Some times it would be clear, and I wouldn't have anything but to sit against the wall and wait, or I would have a constant flow of dishes. I only got 8$ an hour though.

This too, before I was a dishwasher a good friend of mine taught me how to fix cars. I can pretty much work on any American vehicle and Japanese Import. He went too college for it, and taught me his trade of work. Best part about it is how it was off the papers.
You could try the ol call center employee route, get some sales experience
Try to find work at mcdonalds or burger king.
Yep, find something that interests you and develop it. After I failed out of college for engineering I threw myself back into computers and it's really turning out well for me.
Drug Lord
Apparently you can become a car dealer from what I've recently learned without any college application.

If you can persuade them to hire you, you can be a car salesmen.
marry someone rich and buy companies and employ yourself as something in the middle of the company ladder with a raise every month

ISO containers kinda killed that, but there is the option of professional angler or helping out on a trawler.
My highschool Marine and PE teacher did expedition fishing for a year before going to uni. He was on a tuna boat that was crewed mostly by muslims. During prayer time they had to whip out a compass so they could face Mecca, so on occasion he would mess with them in good jest by swinging the boat around suddenly halfway through the ritual :v:
Basically just go into IT/computers/networking, you can get really far if you are just willing to put up with some shit
Enlist, the government covers your basic needs and pays you, (alittle)
The downside is that you have to deal with officers so full of themselves it could be considered autoerotic
And of course the whole war thing...
Become a bank robber. If you don't have the money for the start up just rob a store or something first to get the money. It's practically fool proof, you'll never have to worry about your basic needs ever again whether you're good at it or not.
Unarmed Security Officer.
Most jobs will pay to train you, and you make $15/hr after 3 months to either sit around and watch shit/listen to music or patrol in a car.

Depending on an MOS, you don't even have to worry about "the whole war thing", even.
Make your own job. Something like sweeping dust on the beach or chasing mice with a knife while being naked.
Gentleman's fluffer.
My cousin dropped out of college and codes iOS apps. He makes more money than I probably ever will.

Programming is a good option. I learned more about programming by myself than I ever did at school.
Depending on where you live, you can get a job in a manufacturing setting and within a few years be making good money.
America is increasingly becoming a service economy. Industrial jobs that used to employ high school graduates are dwindling fast.
For instance, my dad's about to lose his job as a coal miner. That used to be the job to get in this area if you wanted to support a family.
I have been doing small time drug dealing a while ago, then I realised being a criminal is shit.
Programming is fun if you are into computers and electronics stuff, but as you said yourself, you can fix cars.
Maybe try and see if you can get an internship at a car mechanic or at a salvage shop.
